[b42] How to hatch chicks?

Title, have a coop, a bunch of chickens, a rooster, and the coop is full of eggs, been about 2 weeks and none seem to have hatched, have started leaving eggs they lay on the ground there to see if that's how they hatch, anyone have the answers I seek?

Normally when i grab them all, some hatch in my (powered) fridge after 2 weeks, you can also tell if an egg is fertilized by looking at it in your inventory

just stick a few stacks of eggs in the fridge, that seems to work for me.
