Does anyone know how to set up a washing machine in a building that didn't previously have it (while both electricity and water are still on)?
Unless it changed recently :
- Rain collector has to be on the above floor, and one square away (not directly above)
- you need a wrench in your inventory (not a pipe wrench)
- sink or machine needs to be considered 'indoors'
if all these requirements are met, the option to "plumb" will appear in the contextual menu when right clicking your sink or washing machine.
You need a wrench. Once you have one, right click on it and 'plumb' it. i moved a washing machine into my house and set it up that way.
Did this change in 41.53? I'm still running 41.50. You can absolutely hook up a washing machine to city water.
In the meantime, I have perfectly functional sinks and toilets surrounding the washing machine, with infinite water.
Here is a screenshot of what I see
Try a different room in the house? I set mine up in the living room.
Sorry I couldn't help you. I don't know what the difference is.
Speaking of washing/drying machines though, do dryers actually dry stuff off? I moved a dryer right next to my washer and loaded it with soaked clothes and left them in there for a long time and nothing really happens.
It's okay, you tried. (:
And I've used dryers before. They do work, but very slowly. It's still faster than letting clothes dry on their own, but I think it would be better if they worked a little faster to really be worthwhile.
Because as it is, you can turn on your washing machine and go to sleep, and by the time you wake up, it will all be dry anyway.
I have heard that you currently cannot hook sinks back up after moving them, even with the water still on. I can only assume that the devs haven't programmed that functionality.
