Random inventory items go missing?

So... I keep having small things go missing. Lighters. Screwdrivers. Matches, and so on. Do items in your inventory fall when you run sometimes? I know that your bags, glasses, and other similar worn items can fall off sometimes. But do random items just fall out of anywhere?

And if so, what do you do when the items are tiny light lighters and almost impossible to see on the ground?

Never heard of that specific issue, have you perhaps caught the items disappearing? Perhaps on a recording? And do you use any mods?

Don't know about screwdrivers, but lighters do not "disappear". When equipped, the lighter is automatically "on" and is using it's fuel. Once it runs out of fuel it disappears from char's inventory. To avoid this, either unequip the lighter or RMC > "turn off".

Two skins mod and the skill journal for mods, and no, I haven't recorded anything. It's not just lighters, it's other small objects, too. I've never actively seen a disappearance, I just open the bag and it's no longer there. That's why I was wondering if some action triggers small objects in the inventory falling out or something.

It's driving me nuts XD

Someone elsewhere mentioned pressing F will auto-equip your lighter and turn it on (although I've never seen a glow around myself, and have never manually used one like that), I assumed it was just that happening until other small things that weren't lighters went missing.

I do a lot of inventory shuffling when I'm at base to stay organized, I've not seen anything on the floor in those times. Sometimes favorited things have gone away too, and I've had things go away without even touching my inventory in a long time too.

Lighters and matches ll disppear when depleted(by smoking or lighting a fire), you do have a chance of dropping items on your hand when your char trips, you might have equipped your screwdriver without noticing while disassembling something and then tripped on a fence or zombie. You can use search mode to look for small objects that are too hard to spot on the ground.

The few ways you can loose an item from your inventory is by accidentally using it on some crafting action, dropping it from your hands while getting some mishap while doing some move action, organization issues like endup getting your inventory at max weight(50) and leaving an item behind in the ground (since you said you do a lot of shuffiling), or a mod causing some error. If not anything like that i have no idea and never found an issue like that.

What happens if your max weight hits 50 on main inv?

You wont be able to pick any more items, you might leave any item you try and cant pick in the container or on the ground.

Just a heads-up, if you're climbing a high fence with some item in hand, sometimes it may drop out of your inventory (on the "starting" side of the fence you climbed)

ive personally been having random issues such as campfire fuel vanishing when unlit, or after a good looting il come back to a item missing like logs.

Fuel vanishing can be caused by you picking up the campfire.
But other than that, it sounds like a glitchy save file.
Maybe check your mods.
