So i found my coop servers backups. How do i actually load them?

You can load them by extracting the files in the backups and replacing the ones found in "C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid\Saves\Multiplayer\servertest", which is where your server save folder is located.

so I go in the back up folder then start up and extracted my backup_4 folder into the servertest folder. Then when I load into the game nothing changes?

For servers I've renamed, I notice there's also a ServerName_Player folder. What's that about?

That is just for your local character joining your coop server. It can pretty much be ignored since saves are server-sided right now. But the client still needs to load the map files locally, which is why that folder exists.

Not quite, you would need to extract the contents in the Saves folder to the servertest folder.

I can't seem to get this to work. I've accidentally hit the "reset world" button in the Host menu. Is this backup functional for this scenario?

It should be depending on how you had the backups set up, do you have the "Saves" folder in the backup?

Nope. I haven't done anything specific to setup backups, so I've got whatever the default setting it. The zipped backup file has a couple folders (db, Lua, Mods, server) and a readme which indicates: "World version in this backup is:World isn't exist".

In that case it seems like the backup did not complete successfully, so I cannot really help with that unfortunately.

By "extracting" the current server files, is it fine to delete them then replace it with the contents of the backup? I'm new to this and I'm scared I just killed my friend's progress...

I join the question, in order to recover from the backup, you need to do rm -rf of the current Saves, or is it enough to replace them from the backup via rsync
