Is it possible to fix broken car locks?

And how do they get broken? This vehicle did not have broken locks when I got it.

Basically, car was fine, damaged door but lock was not broken. I took it off and put on a new one. Now the lock is broken even if I take the new door off and put the old one back on.

if your playing in single player, this should not be a concern because zombies can open doors. on multiplayer people could just break your window and get in that way.

That is weird because I had a locked door on a gas tank trailer, removed it and put it back on and it unlocked it. I will have to try it with a broken lock if I find one and see if it breaks it.

Not talking about house doors, car doors. The door in question had a broken lock, I could not get in the car from that side even if the window was removed, the only way to get in was to go around to the other side.

I think it might have just been a bug, after resetting the server the lock was not broken anymore.

There was another truck that I wrecked the engine on since it had a broken lock driver side door as well, if it turns out it was a bug I will be kinda sad about that

You can uninstall the window and put it back on, and the lock becomes functional. Gotta do it for each window. I remember the driver lock didn't repair with just reinstalling the window, but it did when I reinstalled the door.
