I am not sure I think I saw someone a few months ago in the discord say it was fine if you remove the wood and make it dirt underneath. But I would test that on a different save with and without fire spread on to see if it does work. Curious to know myself.

Would not recommend either.
However, it would still be funny.

If you want to have indoor fires play sandbox and disable fire spread. Probably still not a good idea though.

Carbon monoxide poisoning is a thing in this game. I haven't tried using a fire indoors while opening a window/door or garage door. But using a generator, a fire, or a grill inside can potentially kill your character.

You have to get a shovel and put down dirt or sand on the ground underneath the fire first i think
If you build a campfire in a house it will burn down. However, you can build a campfire in a metal room that is 3x3 metal floors, metal walls, and a metal roof.

What if you remove the floor above the said area of camp fire? would it still catch fire even with fire butter spread off?

I tried on initial infection. On 2 story house removed the top floor and built a fire and went to sleep , fast forwarded time and nothing burnt down or anything. Not sure if firespread is on that setting or not. But thats so cool.

Room has to be relatively large, I just tried the same thing in a small pantry area and burned to bacon bits.

You can build wooden floors from the carpentry menu in a 3x3 and place the fire in the middle, dirt works too. Im currently using this method in a church atm moment and works just fine. Im not sure if the ceiling height matters or not but there is no ceiling directly above the fire in my game.
