Piping Water barrels to sink

If i have a washing machine in the first floor does the rain barrel have to be on the second? or can i place it on the third?

Damn that sucks... I guess I have to make the room directly above it into an outside. So I need to build a stairwell to build a third floor, then remove the floor tiles from the room above laundry and make it work that way.

Also, I heard directly above doesn't work for piping, it has to be adjacent 1 tile and above doesnt it?

In my experience it has to be above and adjacent- It can't be directly above. Any time I've tried piping from something directly above it never works.

Where S is your sink/washer, the B's are valid barrel placements on the floor above. x's are whatever.

Shhhh, Don't encourage them to look at water piping in b42. If they do, they'll probably make it so it isn't automatically filtered water at the same time..
