How to use the plates?

Hi, can I put food on plates and eat like a civilized person with a spoon? I know that you can pour soup or stew into a plate and if there is a spoon, the character will eat from a bowl with a spoon, but is it possible to pull off such a trick with plates? Or are they just a decorative element of the game?

Wiki says: Plates are items that can be found in the world. They can usually be found in the kitchens of houses and stores, either on tables or in cupboards. They are currently considered junk items and have no use.

You can't use them to eat food currently, but for visual representation, you can use the place item function to put one on a table and then place a food item on top of the plate. You can see some stuff like that on dining tables in houses.
