About the proposed new fishing system
It looks much more interactive and I'm sure fishing game enthusiasts are going to enjoy it, but when I fish in this game I REALLY just want to fast forward the time and acquire protein. Can we have an option in the sandbox to keep the current fishing system? Like, more interactive fishing/less interactive?

I know you guys are working hard on all these improvements to the game and making things more interactive and immersive and all that and I love Project Zomboid to bits, but have some mercy on those of us who just want to have our character do certain things automatically....please....

Yeah I see it’s like riding a bike. Tension meter. It’s cool. Because fishing is an entire skill. Maybe its too easy in comparison to other new renewable methods. The fight for the fish that is. Looks good for multiplayer. Fishing with friend be more interesting. Seems okay to me in all honesty I had only used the original rods a few times in X hundred hours. Same with the old forage system. Depressing system it was. No more convenient fast forward fish., maybe you have to double time and be ready to stop when the tension comes up and win the fight. Looks like xp would generate through fight and not catch. Xp for catch is low anyway a level 0 can currently catch a mega fish before reeling a boot in. I’ve seen it and fished one. Fishing is therefor in current state a breeze. Not immersive, unstrategic, has no skill to it.

I think you will change your mind after playing with it.

I dont like fishing because of how boring it currently is right now. If it is more interactive and lets me use my jedi mind powers I think I will like it more then the current system.

I don't like fishing in real life. I don't like fishing in video games, and I really don't like the fact that so many otherwise fantastic games have unfun, pointless, time wasting, fishing minigames that almost ALL work exactly like this one.

I am not the target audience and I am unlikely to change my mind on this.

I also don't think the foraging comparison is a fair one, but I KNOW the game devs are probably going to ignore criticism of it and point to the same complaints about foraging, but it is NOT the same.

The foraging system is dynamic, you can move around and explore, it makes you go to new places and see new things. It was an overall improvement over the old system. The new fishing system is still static. You cannot move or do anything else other than tease a fish towards your lure in a minigame. If you like that, fine. I don't.

I know it's not my game and this is just my two cents worth and they probably worked hard on it and it's their vision for their game and all that, but what it is going to do is make me not fish at all. I'll just grow more crops. At least those don't generally require constant attention or a mini game to get more food with.

I still think asking for the ability to toggle the more interactive options in sandbox on or off is a reasonable request.

Surely the original fishing system will remain for the spear

Feels like the old system should remain as an option for custom sandbox settings, or someone will mod it back in eventually. I personally may be looking forward to the changes, but I get why some people wouldn't.

Yeah just watching the video makes me not want to ever go fishing again. It might be fun to try, but would get tedious very very fast.

Looks like an annoying mmo fishing mini game yes. Hoping there will be a mod to revert it honestly unless it ends up being more fun than it looks.

I only say this as feedback for the devs and will very much still continue to enjoy the game.
