character losing weight constantly
how do i prevent this. I eat enough to have the green hunger bubble most of the time. the only reason i can think im always losing weight is because i walk around a lot and i tend to carry a heavy load while llooting and building.

But its kind of annoying having the underweight trait whehn i eat well enough. any way to prevent this or gain weight? seems like no matter how much i eat i still lose weight. this happens on multiple characters ive had now.

My character suffers from the same ailment. Apparently, there is a difference between how much hunger a meal provides and how much calories. If you don't reach a certain amount of calory intake each day you start losing weight. Losing, gaining or stable weight are shown with an up or down arrow (or no arrow) next to your weight on your character info screen.
Eat more meats. Potatoes also give some calories I think. Junk food. Or keep stuffing yourself with regular food until you see that down arrow disappear. Every day.

I use the cooking options in game. Always cooking my food into some sort of meal.

I am also taking the fitness instructor OR take nutritionist trait to get a visual on calories and fat in a meal.

Collect any of those ingredients you find that are considered "spices" LARD. BUTTER. OILS. TOMATO PASTE. Stuff like that. Add those to a meal when preparing them for big boosts to weight gain.

If you see the chevron or double chevron next to your character's weight, just use less or more "spices" for next meal if you want to loose or gain weight.

You also don't have to eat a whole meal in one gulp. With nutrition trait I can see the calorie count and fat content of my food. If make a 3,200 calorie stew, and i only eat 1/4 at a time. check my chevrons, eat more or less, to try to balance it out.

Still getting used to the calorie change at the end of build 41, so having the nutrition trait is how I am gauging my energy intake.

(there is that minimal display bar mod too that pumps great information to your UI... a great learning tool, but I am running vanilla mostly at the moment)

There also is currently apparently an imbalance in calory use from sprinting vs running vs walking
Where you (counted on distance) use more calories by walking than by sprinting.
(Sprinting being using Shift, for clarification.)

Use a status bar mod for a little while. itll help you understand the mechanics.
Calories =/= hunger

if you find yourself eating "too healthy" just stop by a gas station and steal one of their boxes of chips, those give you 720 calories each. you can either gain weight back or work on maintaining your weight with them. just keep an eye on the arrows on the weight in the vanilla health panel otherwise, it will actively change to show if you are trending up or down in weight by caloric intake.

I always take nutritionalist. The games current weight loss system is tied to moving around and how hot/cold you are, along with if you're overencumbered. All of those values are weighed against how many calories you take in, and there's also even more in depth stuff like fat/carb values in the food as well. It's pretty complicated, but if you'll start to get used to it after a bit.

This part of the article in particular[pzwiki.net] will be useful to you, but I highly recommend you read the entire thing when/if you get the chance/motivation.

Yeah the Minimal Display mod was a must have even before the changes but now with the calorie changes I don't even know what to say. Get it.
