Spears OP pls nerf
Spears are capable of one-shotting zombies of any toughness.

I'm not saying this as a salty long blunt user, I promise. If anything I'm a salty spear user annoyed at people discounting my effort in game with a "Yeah, with SPEARS, idiot" any time I bring up my kills

If you think the current spear is OP, wait until you hear pre-patched spear and knives.
They are breaking fast.

Garden forks last a while, and a modified spear with practically anything put on it makes them last for quite a long time. The only thing that really limits your ability to recycle the same machete and spear forever is your supply of duct tape and wood glue.

Its insta-kill animation doesn't play when you're close to more than one zombie. In these scenarios, the regular animation gets insta-kill properties. If multi-hit is enabled, you can one-shot multiple zombies at the same time. Even when the insta-kill doesn't roll, you get a crit chance roll on top of that.

It has the best range, decent speed, okay damage without crits, and insane crit chance.

Don’t change it. Just give a long blunt from a branch. Garden fork would be a really good weapon as it is in game in real life. The spear is good because it screws you over like a mag pistol. Spear is good. But in real life it wouldn’t be so effective as scene in game. It’s about as flimsy as a garden hoe. Which is a great weapon. I will even duct tape my ho. I grab 2 or 3 rakes if I have back pack. Spear is not a versatile weapon. It has 50% versatility of all but two handed ranged weapon. It is the only weapon that cannot be used 1 handed. Therefor it is stacking that missing versatility into its effectiveness.

What kind of nerf are we talking? An inability to one stab zombies?? Or a reduction to the stab or is it just the attack power in general

spears would have been OP if the durability was great, this is why not everyone can work with the ways of spear. Equip one, one on back and 3 in bag that's not something you do with other weapons.

Here are a few changes I propose.

Remove the spear exclusive exploit that lets you recycle machetes for duct tape and wood glue. Lower the critical chance when hitting multiple enemies. Make the garden fork repairable, but .5 KG heavier.

I equip one, one on back, that's it. Having a single hunting knife or machete gets me through hundreds of zombies with a high (5-6) maintenance. I usually take organized so I don't notice it as much. I used to take strong, but considering how powerful spears are even at level 1 strength, I stopped.

Oh, I almost forgot. It's the only weapon in the game that IGNORES your moodles when rolling for crit chance. You can be exhausted, panicked, hungry, dying of thirst, depressed, stressed, shattering your spine with carry weight, have a fever AND a cold, and you'll still land critical (one shot) hits that can kill multiple zombies at once. Try that with the hunting knife some time.

Good suggestions

Repairable fork didn’t know it wasn’t. It should be.

A garden hoe is no different to a spear really, some medieval spears were just long axes, not sure if that one is collecting for spear.

Removal of exploit 100% never used it myself but I have heard a lot about it

It’s possible garden fork isn’t reparable as will under go some iteration of development that will also apply to the getting the pick axe head back. But maybe I’m wrong. Seems like was once the plan. Or so I hear maybe such thing come along with the farming update

Realistically, if you're going around in a zombie apocalypse with your childhood bat or a kitchen knife you're asking to get a minor scratch or bloody saliva on your face. I'd sooner use a broken broom handle and work in formation with my group. One person stabs from range, the other uses the immobility granted by their partner to get a clean, safe hit in.

So in a way I'm mostly okay with the spears being OP. They're OP IRL and realism should sometimes be allowed to be OP in games, especially if the game touts its realism to begin with. If the general consensus is that spears are fine the way they are, I'm more than fine with accepting them the way they are.

There are situations Wheres it not about the kill it’s just about the knockdown. Most often this is early game for me like leaving the spawn house. Generally will not waste energy at this moment so will prefer the knockdown if I swing at something. Save spending time attracting attention. So broom I would totally use even if it’s flimsy as hell. There are some nice shanks in the kitchen, the chicken fork, or skewer looks nice. The requirement for an oven mitt in baking, and ability to craft one through tailoring.

If all the current spawn home clutter sees useable upgrade would be fantastic. Often isn’t enough choice in the starter home but always a load of clutter

i wont use weapons (spear/knife) with kill animaitons that can kill you.
but yes, spear is kinda strong.

i think everyone was a spear-enjoyer until their first glitch death.
it rarely happens, shoud never happen, but IT happens at some point.

Where just going to ignore this guy is trying to brag about the number of zombies he has killed?

{ trying to... } Its all good. Shelly has killed 1,200 zombies with a ball peen. Kill3rz has killed 4,356 zombies with a dirty rag. Blue Biscuit murdered 154 zombies with his sneakers. But let me tell you people about the 5,742 times I died in project zomboid. Over and over have I continually met the game's only goal. "This is how you died." It seems I win every time I play
I'm that good. { ...impress the masses }

No, we don't need any nerfs.

Probably because it's the least important part of my post. We're*
