boredom and depression...
with rain barrels and farms, one can eat and drink indefinately. even after the last weapon breaks, youll still be able to punch, push, and stomp zombies to death. but, in the end, it will be boredom and depression that will kill you. since, at some point, youll have read every book and magazine, used up every pen, pencil, and paper...

for a game to be truly indefinite, i propose adding paper, ink, and "quill" to crafting menu.

Or maybe have items respawn in certain crates and cuboards over time, but not rapid respawning of the items.

You can use pens to write in jornals and have 20 journals for each 1 empty journal

It would be pretty hard to indefinitely stay alive in this game, we all perish at some point. Of course it's a possibility just saying at some point while out scavenging you make that one mistake or walk into that one room and boom, that's it, you're done for, time to drop all your ♥♥♥♥, have one last good meal, drink some whiskey, smoke some cigarettes and go out blazing, killing as many of those sobs as you can.

yesh, airdrops, when the world will end, they should airdrop pens and papers too, since we need to log all that will happen at the end, who needs food or water, just give the people pens and papers :ghlol:

I think that's why you should also pick up magazines, paper, pens, newspapers, etc. early on if you're planning to survive indefinitely. They weigh very little, and it's never a bad idea to have a plan. Most houses have an obvious bookshelf, so just grab reading material when you see them, and place them there as a backup. Then again, I'm never one to pass on anything that provides for a future. If I see seeds, I grab them. If I find a book, it goes with me.

some of you might need to brush up on your reading comprehension skills XD...

yes - there ~are~ bookshelves with magazines and newspapers etc. and, yes, you certainly can write a journal, or make a doodle, with paper, pen, and pencil. mmhmmm, these definately do reduce boredom and unhappiness...

the point of this post wasnt to ask "how do read?" or "how do reduce unhappiness?". the point i was trying to make is: everything that you use to reduce unhappiness/boredom is consumable, and eventually the last item to provide entertainment will be used up, gone, no more.

i dont like the idea of respawning stuff, and airdrops seem rediculous. seems so much more appropriate to make the items needed to continue writing/drawing/reading yourself. i mean, even cavemen had their paintings...

And my point was you should begin collection early on to save some of your consumables until a more permanent system exists.

They could add in masturbation... it's what I do to relieve boredom.

Or simply allow you to play solitaire with playing cards.

I beleive when AI are re-introduced there will be group activities to relieve boredom/unhappiness (card games or even just talking to another living human being).

Or rather than adding something highly implausible like hand crafting paper, they could just let other things reduce boredom- yo-yo, playing cards, fishing, hunting, fighting zombies...
