getting lost in forests
hi... i find my self quiting games often becuase i get lost in forests for long peroids of time.

before i studied the map... i got lost in a forest for well over an hour... not very fun.. moving at snail space for an hour.. hurting my fingers... as my charitor constaly crys for sleep.

after studying the maps its not as bad.... but i still quit the game yesterday out of sheer bordom and near anger over being stuck in the woods for 30 minuts, its horifcily dull, a true nightmare.

please... figure out some basic way for noobs or poorley equipt players to find there way out of forests.

in real life.. with a better view.... real life awareness,,,, and not being forced to move at horendesly slow speed... this would not be so much of an issue... i might even be able to just look and tell its not a deep forest.. were it may lead out... back tracking is more easy... and i can move at a much faster pace then the game.

in my oppion... this is the worst part of the game.... i have quite so many times due to this... and it makes me nearly angry.

please... do something to help ease this....at least give us more line of sight.. alot more... faster speed... a directional indicator (i know lame).... something... something so that a new player.. or an experianced player... or a badly equpit player... wont get lost nearly so easy in woods and forests.

if this was my town.... id know the woods already... if it was real life, it be much more easy.... but this games mechcincs in the woods is pushing me away from the game hardcore.... at least give me something.

i know i can avoid the woods... but they make up a large area of the game... please do something! speed up the pace, line of sight... give me a dirrecion.

i know there are maps in game ( i think),,,, but that does not help a new player when u have to find it first.

why wondering in the forests ? never ever go deep in there , is pointless and as you know further you go , become a death sentence

Best advice I can give you, is to use the Project Zomboid map. It's interactive and can store points of interest on it. Also, I'd avoid the woods that surround the town. There is small batches in city limits, but they are easy to navigate.

There's nothing really on the other side of the thicker woods surrounding the towns. Atleast, nothing that I know of.

i relaize both of what your saying... still i think its fair to say that navigating forests really sucks... and its like a sand pit in the game... just no fun... at least can we speed up momvent.

i know there is a map... but still thats just a workaround... a bandaid.

as for why.. well i didnt know the game as well back then... and sometimes now i just and runing away from a hord or a zombie suporises me and the tree line is all i got

The new Mondoid said that hunting and trapping are coming soon, so maybe you will start to see some little critters in the forest the next time your out there.

If you just don't leave the road or small town you should be good, I don't see why you would want to be go into the forest. And about making up a large part of the game yes they do, but the 2 major cities are connected by roads anyway as well as the railroad place and farm.

Well, I think I can understand your frustration, maybe they could stand to thin out the forest a bit. In town there are small patches of trees here and there, maybe a few thick patches, but you can generally see where there might be a quick way out.
Outside of town, sometimes it's just a solid block of trees, with zero visibility.

So, yeah, maybe they could use a little tweaking, but for now, I know not to wander blindly into a bunch of trees.

Less dots, more capital letters and don't go into woods.
The woods in this game aren't like most of the real forests:
Trees are all too short and grow too dense.
That's why you are slowed and have short sight range.

If you must go into forests for a bit of trapping whatever, never wonder far from the edges,it probably wont end well or as you did, get lost.

I love that he thought that forests in real life are more navigatable, if you don't have a frame of reference you'll be totally lost in as little as half an hour in a big forest.

Forests in real life are a serious issue. People usually understimates the dangers inherent to the "size" and "shape" of natural landscapes. Even without dangerous fauna (ie, zombies), dying out of starvation, thirst or accidents are very dangerous threats.

He is right in a sense. IRL standing in the forsest ~300 meters from the city you can still see the city because the trees aren't usually so short and dense. In PZ you can't see ♥♥♥♥ when ~5 meters into the woods. Also if you have a compass IRL — it's as easy as orienting by the screen edges in PZ.

But yeah, wondering into the forest aimlessly for hours has all the possibilities to kill you IRL.

When walking around in the forest in Zomboid, the winning move is not to play.
