You can cover all windows and doors with Sheet taken from other houses even without using any mods. You can lock all doors. Sleeping at upper floors is allways the best. High pitch sound created by an alarm clock, ringing at upper floors may still lure zombies. No sound is the best.
Zombies do not try to enter if this is done properly and if you turn on the electric gadgets at the lowest sound settings when all windows and doors are covered, they dont seem to hear or see it samewise. If you leave kitchen devices on, they also tend to create noise. Electric devices all except the Generator. The generator creates insane amounts of noise; but also hurts the player character.
Helicopter events may trigger the zombies to attack even fully covered doors and windows. Other players making loud noise around your house may also attarct them to your house. But they will most probably keep chasing that player.
Ps: Official traits, Outdoorsman and Cats eyes traits are very usefull as much as having no fear of narrow spaces and no fear of open field. You may wish to get out and clear solitary zombies before they attract more zombies, any time and weather.
Barricades Hurt zombies is a very good mod. But I cant assure you which mods tend to bug more often or less. All mods carry risk of bugging and killng the entire game, any time.
Best you can do is attach sheets on the doors, act like curtains.
You don't need to take actual curtains, if you can find sheets, those works perfectly.
The reason we have sheets to put on windows is because the zombies see the light.
Used debug mode yet? 😜
That would also be correct, considering there's literally a mod for that.
Zombies don't see flashlights lighting. They don't see car lights. They don't see any lighting. Lighting and fog or rain doesn't effect their vision. There used to be a loud sound from flicking lights on and off that the player couldn't hear after around 11pm until 5am approx that would draw zombies in which was removed with a patch. This mod exists to fix the fact that lighting doesn't effect zombies. 3k hours and you still don't know the basic mechanics tells me you just had your game open in the main menu for 2.5k hours of it. Congratulations on playing since b38, I started playing since b29 in 2013, i can send you my steam reciept on imgur if you really want.... want an award? Sorry to ruin your immersion lmfao... the version was 29.3. To be exact. https://i.imgur.com/tK5DYE2.jpeg

But to make it clear:
I'm never claimed fog or rain or darkness would affect their vision abilities.
What I'm told: they do notice lights.
Here you go, b29.3. was when i started playing if we want to be like that and have pp measuring contests. https://i.imgur.com/tK5DYE2.jpeg
You won't argue because you know you can't argue with facts and statistics. I study this in debug mode and look into the game mechanics.
Who told you zombies see lighting? Unless it was literally just added they don't because last time I checked they didn't.
Should they see lighting? Yes, they should and I advocate for this to change which is why I'm passionate about it. Do you not want zombies to see lighting and instead just placebo yourself and new players so they think things are true that aren't? I want the game to get better that's why I explain the mechanics and argue about it.
The game has a hint/help option and also a tutorial. Press F1 for help, that should explain how to cover your windows and doors. (It also mentions zombie sight.)
Why would there be a mod for it? I never noticed a difference from my testing. Maybe I'll get in touch with the modder and ask him. Maybe it's the same way the conspicuous/inconspicuous traits work, where it's so minuscule that it literally doesn't matter, which I presume to be the case. I would guess just like stealth it's likely based off tick rate per second.
Regardless I'm glad to see b42 will change this for fog. Heavy fog where zombies can see you from the regular distance feels very cheese.
Thanks for posting that btw. This makes me want to go back and look into it some more.
To be fair, enigma also said conspicuous is a good trait and that stealth is good, which is very well known not to be true by the vast majority of "mlgpro" pz players. Maybe he will chime in and shine a light on this however, we'll see (pun intended.)
