Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

Favorite Base
Lets just share our favorite Base set ups and why.
For me its the Construction site to the west of Rosewood:
1. Almost completly surrounded by Wooden Fences (meaning indestructible except the Gate)
2. A pre-existing pile of Logs to speed up Construction in the early Game
3. The only Problem is the Steel Gate and few steel fences (also indestructible but able to look throught) which I surround with Log Fences so Zomboids dont see inside and replace the Gate once its breached with a wooden one
4. Pre-existing must-have Furnitue like Beds (2 small ones, 1 big one), cooking furnitue (1 oven, 2 trailer freezers), Water sources (3 toilets, 2 showers, 5 sinks) and a few furnitues you can use as storage (cupboards)
5. surrounded 2 sides with Forest and 1 side with a Farm. Easily able to set up Traps directly near the Base
6. ridicoulessly big empty space on the left side. Useable as Building Space, Garage or Woodfarm when you let it overgrow naturally
7. Outside of the City Rosewood, but still within short walking range of Houses
8. Fire Department and Police Station within short walking range. Whilst being the biggest early Game Threat also a Source of Guns, Axes, Tools and a few Water coolers
9. Two Gas Stations, one to the west and one to the east
The only thing I need to do is bring in Freezers, Generators and build a big Storage. Tried out a handful of other possible bases (usually Construction sites because I love settling down and building up bases) but none have been able to surpass it. The only big Problems are that the Prison Zomboids roam into the City regulary, the fact youre in Rosewood and thereford need long to reach other Cities and theres no place to fish nearby.

I have several, so I'll just pick one for each town:
1. Gated community southeast of Muldraugh. Surrounded by tall wooden fences, nearby forest and small lake, only 4 entryways that are easily blocked, fairly small amount of zombies around the area, nearby grocery store and clinic.
2. Riverside school. Huge 2nd floor space with rooftop access, library downstairs, at the center of the town, plenty of storage space from lockers and desks, gigamart across the street.
3. Rosewood fire station. Fairly spacious 2nd floor, small amount of zombies around the area, right across police station, near the construction site for a backup base.
4. Townhouses east-southeast of March Ridge. Almost fully surrounded by tall wooden fences, easy to block, a lot of houses meaning a lot of food.
5. Gas station north of Valley Station on the highway to LV. Almost fully surrounded by tall wooden fences, liquor store next door and both have 2nd floor, near school for library and self-storage for generator and sledgehammer, fairly close to Ohio river and a small river, a gas station.
6. Riverside mansion west of LV. Right next to Ohio river, tall fences, luxury houses, some has built-in fireplace.
7. Food market downtown Westpoint. Right in the middle of the town, decently sized apartments with rooftop access, bridging between shops is fairly easy.
8. Church in Fallas Lake. Pretty far from population, right next to a lake, the community building is the best spot to set up the base.
9. Burger joint in Dixie. A backyard surrounded by tall fences, right next to a gas station, fairly small amount of zombies around the area, forested area for trapping, near trailer park for food, containers nearby has a lot of pops and orange juices.

My Favorite Base Location for long term survival is the Abandoned Factory[map.projectzomboid.com] outside of Riverside
  1. It's a large multi-story structure with a mix of large and smaller rooms
  2. Once you clear the highway, Meta Event Spawns, and Building Spawns the area is Zombie Free
  3. You're a short jog away from a Gas Station. A short drive from Riverside. An even shorter drive from the River. Your base is also located in a Forest. Gas, Loot, Water, Fish, Trapping all possible from this location. If you desire to visit other towns you are next to the main highway. If you desire to get to Louisville faster you have all the wood to chop down in order to make a Bridge across the River and make a highway on the other side to your desired location
  4. It makes for a great time sink for players to spend their long term runs fixing up; especially if they have mods to make the structure better like Clean Dirt or Improvised Glass
  5. Many of the houses in the nearby neighborhood have Fireplaces so if you're on a challenge run and find yourself in this area early on you can warm yourself up if you can find the materials to light a fire
  6. There's a house directly East of the Factory that contains a lot of stuff you'd need to furnish your new base and also 3 Wire Traps to get started on surviving long term in the area.
  7. The 2nd floor has a lot of empty, unused space the player can make use of for custom rooms once they use a Sledge Hammer on some of the walls. On the 3rd floor you can use a Sledge to gain access to the massive and walkable roof.
  8. You have a 2 large 2 door garages that you can use for any purposes from car repair to mass warehouse storage. The 2 garages have a sky bride for safer transport between the 2. You also have a large parking lot to store cars.
