2) Add fuel (logs or planks... paper doesn't add much).
3) To start the fire (which burns until fuel is gone) you have 2 choices I know of.
3a) Lighter + paper something (newspaper, book, journal, etc.)
Lose paper, but lights fire rather quickly and without fail (I think). Not sure if Lighter is ever used up (wasn't in 4-5 uses I did).
3b) Pierced plank + study stick (plank + knife/screwedriver for pierced plank; plank + saw for 8 sticks).
Slow, can fail, might break stick on fail... but with a good log supply is easily renewable. I think the "outdoorsman" starting perk can make this better/faster/more reliable.
I'm not sure about gasoline, never seen/tried that personally.
I've done both of the above multiple times to light a campfire.
