Secondary is used for off hand items like a bag or a flashlight.

I usually run around with a Big Hiking Bag on my back, a Big Hiking Bag in my secondary, and a frying pan in my main hand.

Dead Overhaul allows you to swap primary and secondary with TAB.

You dont need Dad Overhaul for that lol. You can switch between primary, secondary and a gun (if u got one) by pressing 1, 2 or 3.

1, 2, or 3 switches between types of weapons in your inventory regardless of what's in your secondary.

I prefer just one bag on my back, and have my weapon be better in both hands, I would rather be able to save my life by being able to smack a zombie down quickly, instead of getting nommed because I had to carry and extra can of beans :P

If I'm out in the open where I have full 360 degrees of possible vision, I'll use a frying pan, more than enough to dispatch a following of about 6-10 zombies easily, and with effort up to 15 maybe more, never got really had to fight that many at a time.

If I'm indoors and turning around corners, etc, I keep my knife armed because a jawstab is the quickest defense when caught unaware.

I can see how a two handed weapon can be valuable asset to you but it's a pain to have to make multiple trips to get what you want and the frying pan/knife setup works wonders for me.
