Trash Cans...

I was thinking, instead of having to make yourself a rain barrel or two before the water shuts off why not just add the ability to grab the trash cans outside of some houses?

They're exactly the same idea... A barrel shaped object with a garbage bag inside.

Maybe the downside would be that they are able to be knocked over(by zombies) or that in order to transport one you'd need to grab it with both hands(like a corpse, or a generator)

Just a thought.

Trash Cans huh? well you first would have to emptie it out. And maybe the water will make you sick out of it?

Rain water collected in a barrel already makes you sick. Any "collected" water that isn't from a tap, toilet or tub is tainted to begin with. So that game mechanic is already in effect.

And one should be able to use the bleach to clean a trash can/barrel.
And boil water to drink safely

You make a very valid point, and that would make for great prerequisites should such containers become useable in that regard later down the line; although a trash container, and a plastic/garbage bag would more than suffice, and of course boiling away anything that would cause illness.
