The Indie Stone is the worst development team...
...I have ever dealt with.

Build 30 Dec 2014 - Claims of main features being rolled out by Q2 of 2015.
http://projectzomboid.com/blog/2014/12/turbo-to-the-finishing-line/

Build 32 Aug 2015 - NPCs won't be in this year.
http://projectzomboid.com/blog/2015/08/bank-holiday-apzdisa-mop-up/

I was willing to believe in these ass hats but after 8 months for 2 builds of minor content (YES, 3 skills with a handful of interactions and a couple items in this type of engine which already has a built foundation is MINOR) they have convinced me that they just don't care and don't spend any actual time developping this game. I could put out as much content as they have over the past 8 months by myself in a month, maybe 2 given the system and tools.

If you're reading this and haven't bought the game yet, don't buy it, and don't support these developpers. In the end I will either look like a raving jack ass or a wise warning for what came. I truly hope that it's the prior, but I'm thoroughly convinced that's not going to be the case, at least not for another 3 years minimum. These guys are no better than Chucklefish and look like absolute jokes compared to the ARK team, which pumps out chunks of content WEEKLY on a game engine FAR more complex than this.

Indie Stone,
Get your act together, set deadlines for yourself instead of your pathetic "No ETAs" policy, and put something in the game your old fans actually wanted before they quit. Do that and I may even come back to make a public apology. That is, if your forum hounds don't perma ban me first for talking back instead of ignoring repeat posts and generally letting the forums be a mess cause you don't want to drive away new players, aka victims.

TIS is an amazing team of dedicated devs. I didnt realize this thread was a few days old as I was reading lems book that he wrote but everyone has already said anything there is to say so Im just going to say you guys rock and keep up the good work. I bought project zomboid during steam early access a year or so ago and admittedly the NPCs are the thing I am most excited for and the thing I am waiting most for before playing the game much but I have never been anything less than in love with this game since the first time I fell out of a building, broke my leg and had to limp away from a horde of zombies and figure out how to patch myself up.

Cleary you didn't buy Starforge, these Devs are the best i've been with them from the start. Nothing but quailty in there product.

Hehehe... some people are so infantile it's funny. But it's not funny to the developers, and not fun to read, I'm sure, when someone comes in and says hurtful things about your efforts, especially when the product you are making is SOLID compared to 90% of early access stuff.

In any event, this is just a troll thread made by a child who has no grasp on reality.

Well somewhat I agree with OP. TIS ain't worst but they aim totally too high. Bought this right at the beginning of EA and still no 1.0. Overall it's better to get fun, not full "awesomeness" or you will never finish your game. --------------> Duke Nukem Forever <---------- also first Stalker but eventually THQ forced devs to cut the crap and finish it already

I think you confused "getting ahead of themselves and underestimating dev times" with "aiming too high". Also, check your comparisons because this is nothing like Duke Nukem Forever. That IP switched hands several times (seeing as how several of the companies involved went out of business) before any real significant development started. DNF is what happens when you refuse to let something die and revive it's antiquated corpse. Fun game, but not good by any means. Just as well, when any of us bought the game doesn't really matter either...people who bought it EA have no more right to a good game than someone who bought it yesterday or someone who buys it at 1.0.

Very good to hear, and honestly I didn't know about IWBUMS beta branch I may look into it. I played a lot around 6 month's ago and even got a friend hooked, but we basically ran out of stuff to do after a while in the game and have been waiting to play again until more features release. So I have not kept up much with the game, and just have been checking public builds which I believe there has only been 2 of those since I last played. It's not anything against the devs either, as it's just hard with these EA games not to be afraid they wont finish. I look forward to the release :).

Luckily the IWBUMS version just hitting live sometime today (if it hasn't already) I believe, so there should be a good chunk of new and fun stuff to check out!

You fan boys actually make me sick. You're so up the dev's behind that you cannot for the life of you think about this whole dilemma impartially. The OP, while a bit extreme of saying they're the "worst development team" has made some pretty good points. What's pathetic is that everyone keeps commenting about the extreme instead of looking at the merit of his argument.

I purchased this game a long time ago, and literally, I haven't seen much improvement nor any incentive to play the game. It lead to nothing, it has no objective, and I will bet my entire bank account that it will still be in early access for my (not yet conceived) children to see when they're all grown.

If I could get a refund, I would take it with OPEN ARMS and never have to look at another pathetic weekly blog update that just delivers hollow promises.

I have learned an important lesson, though, never to trust another early access developer. Thanks guys!

Original DNF died because of overambitious, that's what I mean. Revive was just to get some cash back. I just see TIS don't know when to drop ball. If something is too hard to handle then drop or simplify this, old rule of game dev. I personally don't like choking projects with things like that and gonna hold my cash in the future to buy finished stuff at best from TIS/dayz devs and few others in the future.

The game was never meant to have an objective (in terms of a linear story to begin, middle, and end), so if you bought it for that it was a failing on your part, not the devs.

Did you miss the entire point where the dev replied and validated some of the criticism? And how on earth did you get from that to thinking that no one is acknowledging the merit of his argument? I'll just have to assume that you didn't actually bother reading the dev responses; if you did and you're still saying no one paid attention to his criticism that's a rather bewilding lack of reading comprehension. If you didn't read them, maybe you should take a deep breath, go back and read them, and then comment.

At any rate, you bring up a good point: people like you shouldn't buy Early Access. I'm glad you came to that realisation, because it will be much better for you and for the successful indie devs you're enjoying calling "pathetic."

Oh, and always remember, everyone: start off every discussion by calling the people you disagree with "fanboys." It's any easy way to deflect anyone who disagrees with you, and shows without a doubt that you are impartial and definitely don't have any bias. God forbid we accidentally treat people we disagree with with any respect, or have a shred of humility about our point of view.

Edit: On a more serious note, I do apologize that you feel the 33+ hours you spent on PZ weren't worth the $ 8-15 you paid for it, though. I hope one day that will change.

I hate to bump this thread, but sadly I'm unable to edit old posts, even my own, and the sales figures for Ark quoted in my wall of text on page one were way out, presumably due to a free weekend around the time it was written throwing the sales figures reported on Steam Spy vastly off what they were. The point still stands but the figures quoted were way out and it bothers me that an otherwise accurate post we still link to to explain the NPC situation had such incorrect info in there.

Rather annoying that developers on Steam are seemingly no longer trusted to be able to edit old posts. I assume this is given a few dev's censoring of criticism in the past. This is why we can't have nice things!

Just thought I needed to set the record straight and apologize for it! The point still stands though.
