The problem with zombies in general
Now, dont get me wrong, I LOVE this game and alot of zombie survival games, but if there is one thing that i think people overlook alot is the fact that zombies eat flesh, well, then why do the zombies still have their flesh? there is really no good reason for the zombies to not just end up eating each other until there is only 1 zombie left.... A book I read called "FEED" actually has a decent explaination... so, the zombies decompose over time (duh) and if desperate enough, WILL eat other zombies to try and stay alive, however, the zombies PREFER fresh flesh, so while this isn't really on the topic of Project Zomboid specifically, I honestly just want to know what you guys think about this, did you overlook it or not?

A lot of Zombie games adhere to the Hive Mind that is present when forming hordes and such. Movies and games rarely touch upon zombies eating each other as they want the fear of them relentlessly chasing fresh meat.

I always assume zombies only eat live flesh, and since a Zombie isn't alive, well...

yeah, im not saying i dont enjoy it or that it makes the game/movie seem cheesy, in the same book when the zombies are alone, they are too stupid to do much of a threat at all, but when they form hordes, they start to gain intellegence and starr displaying pack hunting instincts, which i find freaking brilliant, but it seems like an obvious flaw, yet so many people overlook that which is strange

I can't think of any zombie fiction ever that features cannibalistic zombies. Project Zomboid by default is heavily based on Romero ("proper") zombies, which never cannibalized each other, something Romero himself stressed. They ONLY eat humans and animals. Even for Sandbox I can't think of any zombie fiction that you could emulate where zombies eat other zombies. They just don't do that anywhere ever.

well, like i was talking about in the book they PREFER human flesh, but if they are about to fall apart from decomposition, then they would resort to cannabalism, kinda ironic considering that zombies technically cannabalize since they were once human, and I know why they do not show that, because then your apocolypse ends itself for you.... I was just thinking about how people tend to not even consider that.... also, nice Romero fact.... its amazing that the first time the idea of zombies was thought of was with the egyptians, thats why they mummified their dead, they thought the soul would return to their body to walk the earth again..... and black magic zombies, also known as zombi, those zombies are just servants to the one who reanimated them, eventually, we got this zombie virus senario with slow, shambling corpses, whose main strength is numbers....

zombis dont eat each other. It would be cannibalism and its not allowed so they hunt living beings, because eating fresh flesh is legal!

my guess is that they dont want to eat infected because that would be detrimental to their goal of spreading the infection but its also likely they prefer live flesh.

Because viruses never attack themselves, unless a stronger strain is made.

Zombies are dead and therefore rotting. Would you want to eat spoiled food?
Evidence that zombies are actually just foodies with bad table manners and poor personal hygene IMO. :steamfacepalm:

The dead do not feel hunger. They don't eat. They are driven to pursue the living and devour them. Why?

I don't know did you try asking one?
Philwhore Sep 24, 2015 @ 6:09am
yes it dident go well
Philwhore Sep 24, 2015 @ 6:09am

It's probably more the virus/parasite taking advantage of the hosts predatory instincts (The instinct to pursue and consume prey.) in order to spread the virus. We are talking about renanimated corpses here but the brain structure is still the same.

smell. if they attacked anything that moved sure they would tear each other appart. but the zombies may emmit a special smell.chemical , bacterial , viral and fungal versions of zombies this is plausable deppending on the version of zombies. TWD uses this concept that the zombies own blood can be used to mask your presence . season 1 they did it. so they are not just reanimated. the corpses are releasing a chemical into the air through bodily fluids

the real problem with zombies is how they keep cells functioning without the circulatory system to distribute nutrients and oxygen. i mean you could argue that the virus patches into the host dna a conversion of the lybic system (it moves fluid across the body so it doesnt pool and is sort of a second circulatory system) to handle more than just water and that it also makes them anaerobic but nobody put forward an full explanation
