Is riverside supposed to be easy mode?
There are hardly any zombies at all, like a ridiculously low amount of zombies, and i'm on apocalypse. Muldraugh is fine but I didn't like how easily it ran out of loot, so I tried playing on west point and it's impossible, and riverside is a total cakewalk.

Yeah you can't adjust their intelligence levels or have them become sprinters at night and suddenly know how to open doors and crawl under cars etc, is what I meant. Knew about the day / night active setting already, just saying it's a little basic. I'd love to have zombies that are completely dumb as a brick during the day with poor memory and navigation skills, but then at night they perk up and move faster...maybe not become 28 Days Later tier but at least pretty lethal in general. Groups start to roam around instead of just standing around, etc. Stuff like that.

Just to ask if i'm missing something on this game..
I'm in WestPoint, survival mode, 5 months, 4500 zed killed and i'm barely at the middle of the city.
Am I doing something wrong or it's normal ?

Well the city aint that big. Allthough zombie pop is somewhere around 8000-12000 on apocalypse i think.
But if you enjoy playing like you do, then what does it matter?:)

I like Riverside for a chilled base building play through I usually clear it using a campfire on open ground and drag all the zeds there using a car horn or siren, then I'll move over to the factory units SW of town and lay another campfire and use the chopper event to clear the factory / campsite and storage units. Between the two locations you'll kill 1200 zeds and there will be just stragglers to mop up as you loot everywhere for a grand total of about 1500 zeds if you don't have respawn on. If you want Riverside to be vaguely challenging go sandbox and a six months later start.

West Point> Muldraugh>Rosewood>Riverside
Population wise i would say, allthough Muldraugh on occasions might be on par with WP.

Would be nice if this info were given when starting a game. I'd played extensively in Muldraugh and WP, thought I'd try Riverside this time. I started in a restaurant so far from any zombies, I can yell and fire guns, and nothing shows up. Has a glass roof, for gardening (which doesn't seem to matter, but not sure) so thought it would be a great base, but it's just too easy and boring. Rather than start over, I'm thinking of just travelling somewhere else, but haven't decided where.

West Point is my fav map. Riverside is not only easy because of low zombie population it’s also so close to the river you are only having to be worrying about 3 directions. And is so easy to hitch up at that river bar mentioned above. Also the general goods store has a large supply. Also the houses to the south east of riverside have built in garages and high fences.
Animalman 2021 年 9 月 23 日 上午 9:33
Westpoint is also really close to river side like really close. So you can be living at riverside and perform the West Point gun shop raid by just following the river. The way you enter westpoint will be low key from riverside anyway if you stay off road. I suggest drive south east towards westpoint. Take 4 cans of gas and a full pickup truck.

Erm i think you are confusing it:) Since it takes about a 18-24 hours on foot to get there, when you follow the shore lines:) (Yes i 've done it once!)

Did you leave your safehouse yelling like Bilbo? lol

If I remember isn’t it follow the river south east and it comes in abit directly south and then starts to go south east again. Sorry I assume one is using a car with plenty of gas because it’s a drive for sure. But you can do it in under a day and the route is less confusing than taking the roads when starting riverside

I had the privilege of doing it in the small suv 4x4 as well as the reverse westpoint to riverside using a pickup

But with a car it wont be sneaking anymore. Partial carride and partial sneak style is totally acceptable. I used ot regularly get into WP from the 3 houses area by walk. It takes about 2-3 hours of walking to get to the edge of WP, and if you want to cross it completely around the same amount to get on the other side of WP.
Animalman 2021 年 9 月 24 日 上午 4:37
Walking most places is impossible for me as usually my character unskilled and I run out of food or water on the way, as usually carrying a weapon and a spare is important sometimes can’t carry enough for the hike. I have been stranded without a car on that river southern/northern stretch and eventually got eaten by zeds.

entering westpoint by the river Is a far cry better than dragging every zed in from westpoint high street and/or construction yard towards the giga mart. Though you can also approach the gunshop off-road through the forest near the train tracks both east and south east of the gunshop but it really depends if the hordes on the grasslands around the gunshop are manageable.

Sneak depends on your vehicle some vehicles are quiet enough if you don’t reverse, you can sit say 10 or 15 m from a zom with engine on and he won’t notice. Roll strategy if you have nice speed on your car like idk speed demon + sports variety. You can coast pretty silently by lifting off the throttle like a sort of sneak.

I'm surprised more people didn't speak up for Rosewood as the easier option for a starting town. The houses that you can start in are about the same as other towns from what I can tell, but the police-station start is very good since you can sometimes have an unlocked storage room with guns or a backpack in the locker rooms. The fire-hall nearby has a very large fenced yard that you can keep clear pretty easily, and the upper floor has nearly everything you need already, and the rest is in the lower floor. (Beds, water, stove, TV, storage.) The fire-hall is half-way to being a pre-made base, even if you don't start back-yard or roof-top gardening. Gasoline's a bit far to the north or south of town, but if you just stock up a few jerry-cans every few days, it doesn't seem too bad to me. Muldraugh and West Point always seem to have the worst density of zombies and low supplies in their starting locations, and Riverside is about middle-difficulty, IMO. : )

Nah, if you actually do not know what you are doing Riverside is easier. Rosewood's main issue is that the main road of the town is actually a high heat zone, and the zeds often wander out of the prison which is a max heat zone area. (So one chopper event can bring you 500-1000 zeds from there.) Riverside is not such a huge heat zone.

What you state regarding the police station you usually need the key to get the guns from the gun storage room, however lockers may do indeed have backpacks, however you can get those from any school. Which both Rosewood and Riverside do have, actually Riverside having two schools, of which one has actually two locker rooms, Riverside wins in this regard. And in Riverside usually you can get there a hiking or a large hiking bag.
Riverside also has more food stores, more stores generally too. Rosewood allthough does have the Fire Station which is actually a place to get most of your medical supplies from.
Both places got a nearly fully fenced place, for Rwood it is the construction site (and now the parking lot too near the southern gas station) whereas Riverside has the Wrecker's. Both towns also have two story buildings you can fortify easily, and grated communities.

Rosewood is a bit more focused(regarding zombies) little community with a lot of nearby small houses, and good access to many places.
Riverside is a bit out on the fringes but is bigger, less focused (regarding zombies), also has the river nearby. There are not many houses nearby however there are enough to get to the far west gas station easily even on foot. (Or to WP 3 houses, yeah i've done it twice in winter.)

Rosewood is also a good start, however Riverside is easier if you are a new guy.
The main difference comes actually from access to sledgehammers and generators.
Rosewood has higher chance for generator spawn because of all the garages, whereas Riverside has 100% chance to get at least 3 generators from the storage lot at the trailer park. Sledgehammer is available north and northwest of Rosewood in the double warehouses usually, whereas you can find multiple in the factory near the trailer park in Riverside. The car spread i would say is even.

These remarks are based upon prior to 41.53-54 patches.

(I am currently playing near Rosewood however i cannot really get further into town then the Gigamarkt)

I like Rosewood with superb survivors. Survivors take over quick if you set the starting pop to .3-.25. Also give em a 50% chance to have melee and its like a outbreak of chaos with a very high spawn rate.
2021returner 2021 年 9 月 26 日 下午 12:24
i think spawns balanced well
more zombies=better loots in general
riverside trailer zone is worst spawn for me, mostly nothing there

and..number doesn't matter in this game now
just one molotov can burn whole population
