Broken glass removal

Is there a safe way to remove broken glass other than using gloves to pick it up?

Just to clarify that's in reference to broken glass on the ground..
and not the broken glass in a window frame.

Pretty sure you need gloves for glass on the ground, though.

that's right you can "destroy" the glass with a sledge instead of picking it up

This is for removing glass from a window frame. Like someone else said, removing it from the ground requires globes - apologies if you meant off the ground.
