Nimble skill takes waaaaay too long to level (other skills too)
Started off a new character with 2 skill in nimble. Almost a month of in-game time later, and he's not even 1/3 the way to level 3. For about 2/3 of that month I was almost constantly on the move, jumping through windows/ over fences many times a day and still barely any skill exp gain.

I might reach nimble level 3 before I'm done with this playthrough, but I will never ever reach nimble level 4 with any character at this rate before getting bored & moving on to another game. It's just far too slow, can you imagine how long level 9-10 would take?

Nimble is the worst offender but there are others. Leveling past 6-7 in sprint is not going to happen unless you grind for eternity. Strength & fitness gains also just aren't going to happen past a certain level, at least not before 99.9% of players get bored and move on.

Having every level need twice the exp points of the one below is a problem here, I think. It just takes far too long to reach the higher levels at the base rate since the exp requirement is so fricken high.

You can apparently grind it "fairly quickly" by walking around in combat stance all the time, for what it's worth. I barely move when in combat stance, I only activate combat stance when I'm fighting, so I've hardly seen any XP gains in Nimble at all, maybe I reached level 2 at one point, dunno.

Didn't know you get XP by jumping fences and stuff, although I guess that makes sense. I try not to do that because I don't like falling over and losing my weapons and hat, also gashing my hand apart in the process lol.

I haven't tried grinding Nimble by walking around in combat stance yet, I dunno if you can do it in a safe zone or if you have to have zombies present like with sneaking and stuff though...but maybe it's actually quite easy to level up if you use combat stance a lot?

Same, whenever I start with a 0 in nimble I never reach level 2 before the playthrough is over. Walking around everywhere in combat stance would slow the game to a crawl & ruin any stealth attempts so I'm not too keen to try it :P

Based on the current implementation, it doesn't feel like the Devs intended you to substantially level any core skill, much less max it out. I assume it's a combination of making occupation traits have more meaning, and encouraging a more multiplayer balanced party kind of thing, despite their being no real MP since everyone plays the beta. You'll never max out strength in a single playthrough with default settings, while someone taking strength traits can bonk zombies all day long. Same goes for all other core skills.

That said, I play alone, screw default settings, and I prefer being able to noticeably increase core skills. I do a 10x XP multiplier, though due to sandbox limitations this still leaves maxing core stats largely impossible, while leveling trade skills too fast. So without being able to tweak individual stat gains, it's far from perfect.

you get lots of nimble xp when a zombie tries to grab you and misses. I don't recommend grinding that though. I pick fights on purpose and I've had nimble up to level 6 using the normal xp rate

strength and fitness are designed to take months and years to raise, much like in rl. I always skip that noise and start with 10.

You can also gain skill in nimble by climbing over fences and through windows. As others have said it does still take some time, but as long as you are constantly doing the things that give xp to nimble it will still level up. I also kind of recommend using sandbox settings and increase xp gain. I think 10x is probably a bit too high though. I tend to use 5x, max. That still makes it so you have to work a bit for it, but it's much less tedious.

I prefer using 3x myself

2 months and 17 days. 2238 zombies killed. Started as police officer. (nimble level 1 bonus 75%)
Already past level 3, around 3/4 left till level 4.
Just as an fyi sneak running also increases xp if my observation is correct.

You cant gain xp anymore with climbing big walls or jumping over fences, try it yourself. The only way you get nimble xp as far as i can tell is walking around in aim mode and sneak running

Try using additional book skills mod. It gives books for sprinting, nimble, sneak, lightfooted, and all the melle weapons.

So the grinding looks more like having adventures and trying to find the skill books and having fun scavenging not walking around in combat stance for hours. Or you can just boost the XP multiplier in sandbox which imo is the most unrewarding and dry tasting solution.

This game isnt at all about maxing skills, neither nimble nor any other
It is a game about surviving and not dying...

The enemies dont evolve...and you can already kill them day 1, unarmed, with zero everywhere

Higher skill level can help surviving, sure...but if you are at the point of grinding skills, then you are way past surviving and have already won...
...or you play uber easy settings in which case it is even more pointless

Actually nimble skill has one very very barely known hidden effect.
If i recall well that for 100% drag down you need 4 zeds on level 0 nimbleness. Allthough 3 have a good chance to drag you down too.
However...with nimble skill this increases, you CAN survive and not be dragged down by 4 and even 5 zombies, if you have a high enough nimble skill.
(Well used to be this way, i had a very high like level 5-6 nimble guy ages ago, after 6-8 months of survival. And around that time there was a post about this, cant recall when, but my char definetly did not get dragged down by 5 zombies twice and managed to get out of them to live another day)

Didnt knew that about Nimble...
Anyway, ive never ever ever died and said to myself 'oh my god, if only ive had higher Nimble level' ;D
The same about most skills...and the ones the player want high...he can choose them at start anyway

Because it's bugged.
