So what youre saying is that theyve intentionally made t more common for bites?
I dont think it is more common its still a 1/4 you just got unlucky but a 1/4 is common enough taht you should play in a way that you never get hit because once you survive a couple days and are hours into a run it isnt ever worth taking a 1/4th chance to die versus your save game.
As Artaniz commented, this should teach you not to get caught at all. Every attack that lands on you could be fatal. Trying to mitigate these attacks with resistance only offers a chance of survival -- it cannot be relied upon.
You walk faster than they charge. You shove faster than they can attack. You can see them before they see you.

Though I find it kinda silly one human bite can pierce CHAINMAIL gloves (butchers and kitchen workers use these to avoid knife wounds). Come on, is it some shark variant mutants? Not mention these hard to find. Bone gloves are easy though and 70/80 def.
