Cloudsave?
I usually play on my desktop PC and then during long commutes or business trips on the Steamdeck - why does PZ not have a cloud save? It is - checks calendar - 2025, how on earth did you manage to get this Deck verified but can't even sync save data?

Such a shame, I was looking forward to playing this again now that b42 is available...

Is manual back up impossible for you?

Most people are too lazy these days to manually transfer.

But to answer the tech ignorance shown in the OP, it's a size limitation; PZ saves can be very large.
Games that don't have cloud saves are usually because their save files get too large to transfer before timeout or exceed the max size anyway. PZ has that issue. A few games have cloud saves that will encounter the timeout (e.g. Factorio).
The Manual Backup has a teeny tiny problem: It´s stored in a metric ***ton of files.
My ~40 Hour Save File is about 140MB, stored in about 53.000 Files, most of them in the maps folder. Packing them into a zip is easy and fast enough, but unpacking them again takes about 10 minutes...
Just copying the files will take about 20-30 minutes. So i get OPs intention, but there is no easy solution.

Nice ad hominem out of the gate.

Unfortunate. I had a look at it - the amount of that many small files is a baffling choice, as that makes pretty much everything harder, even when not considering a cloud sync. Accessing that many files for a continuous save can't be performance friendly when compared to a single file. Oh well, it's only been in EA for 12 years, they'll figure something out... ;)

Until then I guess I'll use the old "buy a dedicated server to play solo" solution. Worked for other games, but I hoped I wouldn't have to resort to that. (plus, b42 isn't multiplayer capable yet)

I still maintain that PZ should not be Deck verified then - the whole point of that device is to continue playing the games you started on your PC while on the road.
