Problems disinfecting rags/bandages with alcohol
Anyone else having problems disinfecting/sterilizing rags/bandages with vodka, gin, scotch etc? It should be possible, right?
I only seem to be able to disinfect them with medical alcohol.

Try filling alcohol into medical alcohol bottles. I've noticed that disinfect wounds will work with f.e. tequila filled med alcohol bottles but won't show with tequila bottles for some body parts.

I'll try that. But must be a bug then.
I have been able to disinfect bandages with a bottle of whisky. Maybe you have a mod installed?

Nope, no mods. It's B42 btw.

Have you tried whisky? Maybe they did not expand the disinfect ability to vodka, scotch, etc?

I don't have any whiskey atm so I can't try. But I had whiskey earlier and that bottle is empty, so maybe it worked with that. Maybe they forgot to add that functionality for scotch, gin etc.

It didn't work by transferring scotch from a scotch bottle to medical alco bottle.

Looking at the materials list in the recipe scotch, vodka and gin bottles are on the list so I don't think it's a problem with the container. If anything, maybe they're not counted as alcohol in B42, as you said.
So far as I can tell the only alcohol's that work to disinfect are whiskey and vodka. Been doing some testing and all other forms of booze does not work. Edit: Whiskey, Vodka, and Disinfectant will all take 100ml to disinfect one rag.

(Side note, don't ever do this in real life, the sugars in booze will usually feed an infection, if you have absolutely no other alternative make sure the booze is at least 100 proof)

Edit: is your handle a Critical Role reference?

Ok, cool. Must be a bit bugged then.

No, I've never watched or read Critical Role. But seems like a cool gang. :)

Any admins/mods here are welcome to move this thread to the Bug Reports sub forum instead.

Next patch mentioned fixing 39.9% alcohol not disinfecting.

Yeah, for some reason it completely broke in a recent patch. You can no longer disinfect with "commercial" booze bottles. You have to transfer the "booze" to medical alcohol bottles for it to work. It's...really strange.
Im not sure, but i could disinfect the wound (not the bandage) with several types of booze.

Yes, I can disinfect wounds with booze as well, but not rags and bandages.
