Saving a B42 Character For Later
Was just curious if it's possible to save my B42 character and worldsave and come back to it later if I happen to want to go back to B41 to play some multiplayer for a night or two. If so can someone tell me the process?

You sound like an angry nerd.

If it's one or two nights it would be unlucky to see a B42 update that breaks the save, but there's no guarantee.

Assuming there is no significant update there shouldn't be a problem switching back to the main branch and then rejoining the beta later - your save file itself won't be deleted it just won't let you load it while in B41.

If in doubt backup your save from the [username]/Zomboid folder, either way it would be the same if you kept playing that character or didn't play at all.
In Windows, go to your user folder (example: C/users/your_user_name) and rename the "Zomboid" folder. A new one will be created when you start a new game with the version you're using. When you want to go back to the old one, do it the other way around. Rename the "Zomboid" that was created and rename the first one you changed. This way, you can easily switch between all the settings for different versions.
Just backup the save file

Thankyou good to know.
I have b41 in a separate folder.... start the executable file in that folder and then I play build 41 however you have to keep all of your mods for both version subscribed and you have to be logged into steam obviously.

But currently if I start The game inside the build 41 folder built 41 starts up if I start the game through Steam build 42 loads up.
