Normal Loot = 3x more than Rare Loot setting.
Just thought I'd point this out. Recently I was sand boxing, and realized that all the defaults are rare -- kind of odd for an apocalypse that's just a few days old -- there hasn't even been much time to loot yet! So I turned it up one step to "normal".

Oh. My. God.

There is literally 3x more stuff laying around. Things are outright abundant. Seeds and generator magazines ACTUALLY SPAWN NOW. It's wild.

Honestly that's a way larger jump than I was expecting for just "normal", but man... I am starting to think all the people who always scoffed at me in the past for having trouble finding much of anything were playing with a higher loot abundance and just lying about it, because now things seem as breezy as they all said. So if you're getting frustrated, pop loot to normal -- just make the zombies scarier to compensate or something.

I'd kind of like an intermediate option between rare and normal of "uncommon" that was like only twice as much stuff or something. Because this is almost too much, now.

But yeah, anyway, there you go. A PSA from me to you. Sandbox mode is your friend.

There's plenty of loot around on default settings. I tried normal one time and it just felt like cheating, like I may as well just be spawning everything I want with debug mode. Default settings can simply require you to hit the right place to find the items you want; warehouses for tools/seeds, bookshops for magazines, that kind of thing.

RNG notoriously hates me. There are some items that are a little TOO rng still.

players always glass cannon or just glass in this game so it won't make much different unless you decided to not using generator or fire at all

try abundant man you can't take 2 steps without finding an absolute stocked kitchen and every book available on jst one shelf

This is why I like extremely rare loot, it makes loot all the more valuable and awesome to get. On normal you could fill a lake with useful loot, which imo makes it less interesting.

Which is why I wish there were an "uncommon" setting between rare and normal :)

I mean... this game starts like RIGHT at the start of the apocalypse. Being totally looted out doesn't make sense. But being completely full doesn't, either.

I'm play with Xtreme rare loot + at least 1 month (or more) after the breakout. Still finding anything to survive, later to thrive (and get bored to kill my toon)

game starts where you decide. you can have it start right at the beginning or 1year after

Does changing the base date have any impact? Or is it just funzies?

I know that the zombies do actually weaken over time, and plants grow -- is that reflected if you change the setting?

There is a "months since apocalypse" option in sandbox
Higher the value, you'll find less loot, and less (+worse) cars.

i play on extremely rare and a mod that boosts loot a little and also forces loot to be more specific on where is spawns. the result is a little less stuff then unmodded rare settings and stuff feels like its more in the right place.

you shoud check out the 2 extra rare loot mods + 10 years later mod
(with 12months since apocalypse enabled), you will find nothing.

makes finding a frying pan to have as weapon the Legendary loot. :D

@to all

its not about looting the items, its about the story how you get to loot all items.
some just go to mall and have food for 10 years. boring story.

that's why I always baffled when someone casually suggest solving a problem with extremely rare loots like sledge hammer. Sledge hammer and m16 should never be mentioned in this game, like ever, as they are practically non-existence.

Geez it makes it even worse than rare+ loot? LOL
