removing stairs

I was having fun building a base, started to build stairs to make a second level, now I can't remove them?!?! I just wanted to change their direction.

looked it up online and you need some super rare sledge hammer?

Why? so stupid...

Kinda ruined it hard for me on the building side.

It's been a long time since I've needed to remove stairs I built, but you can usually dismantle most of the stuff you build by right clicking on them and selecting the dismantle option. Not sure if that works for stairs or not, but I also don't know why it wouldn't.

You probably can disassemble player build stairs. Floors I build I can disassemble, though the entry in the right click menu is "Dissasemble Object", instead of "Floors". Floors I haven't build has no disassemble option, same with stairs. I have yet to build a stair so don't know if a player built stair can be disassembled, but my guess is that it can.

As far as I understand the sledgehammer is for destroying structure objects that aren't player build.

Sledgehammers are required for tiles that are pre-placed, not player constructed ones. Go to the left side of your screen and click the furniture icon, press TAB until you reach the disassemble option, put your mouse on the bottom part of the staircase (The first step), from there you should be able to disassemble it, if you can't, you apparently do need the sledgehammer.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try the sledgehammer as I'm stuck to disassemble stairs I've built.
