How to return to the previous version?

As title says the update broke everything i cant even load my save so im wondering if there is a way to return to the previous version, i tried the legacy thing in the beta tab but dont know which exactly was the old version.

right click on zomboid in you'r library, go to propertyes and then betas. there you can choose the game version.

i did that and went to 41.71 but i cant load any of the saves i have

Assuming you are switching back to the previous build you would go to the beta tab like you mentioned and choose the one that says "legacy_41_71"

i tried that, the save file says world version 194 and that is from a newer game update, did trying to load the save mess it up and now im stuck with nothing?

I guess we should ask how old the saves you are trying to load are.

The save was from the previous version, i didnt know the game updated today so i just went to play, got the error and checked here, found there was an update, downgraded to 41.71 but when i try to load the save it says the save is from a newer version of the game.

So my lastest post was asking if trying to load the save file made it "update" to the new version which it now doesnt let me load in the previous version.

if the latest version upgraded your save to world version 194, it should have made a copy of it first with a "_backup" suffix - are you not seeing that in your list of saves?

Where can i find that? In the folder with all the saves? I cant see a backup ingame

yeah - it should be in the folder with your saves (same folder the updated save is in) - should also be visible on the Load screen

if it's not there then something weird has happened

however - if you have an AMD graphics card then maybe that was causing your problems - and apparently AMD have now fixed their drivers - and so if you can now load 41.73, then maybe your game will load

although you weren't clear about what was wrong with your game - did 41.73 work? and it just didn't like your save? what did it say when you tried to load it? also the first time you tried is when it should have showed some text saying it was updating it - did that happen?

what mods are you using? maybe make a backup of the save and try disabling mods and see if it loads

Well what happened is probably one of my mods not being compatible with the current version but im afraid if is a mod which add backpacks like Authentic Z where i have all the loot it will all be gone.

I checked the save folder i couldnt find any save backup i cant find it ingame either so basically im fked lol.

not an AMD user.

Well i guess ill have to wait till all the mods update to the current version, thanks anyways guys for the help <3

can you explain what happens when you try to load it with the current version - because if it is a mod problem, then there will be log entries - do you get red errors?

nothing to explain anymore because i fixed it just happend to randomly check a mod which was ridicously rare changed the version to 41.73 and everything seems to be working LOL
