Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

zombie lag
to be blunt, I want to do a very high zombie population run but it drops my computers frames to 10-20, is there a way to reduce the lag zombies cause or no? Cause i remember this trick of allocating more ram to the game i just forgot if that even still works.

theres unfortunately not much you can do. java is pretty ♥♥♥♥ with memory. you will need to upgrade your computer.

what youre thinking of is probably the page file, but that would only marginally help if youre on an ssd. its much slower than ram.

I found this helped a bit when in high population areas. Was also running one of the NPC mods and a few were around the vicinity which increased the CPU load I assume.

Anyway, this might be worth a try:

an SSD is a solid state drive. that means it is a couple of replaceable chips attached to a small board on the inside of the computer a HDC functionally is the same thing, but it stores the same type of data onto a disc.

By the way.

Escaping Westpoint thru the busiest parts sometimes causes mine to drop to 20fps and sometimes crash to desktop.

Certain junctions it is common.

So

You can try Riverside or Rosewood. Or, If u do westpoint make sure u make ur way out of WP towards the bridge maybe.. I have had clear lag free escapes going to the river. But crossing the full residential is problematic. and chipping back into the residential after some siren sessions at the river can be problematic.
WP generally is problematic.

If u reach LV with no frame issues. THen inside the checkpoint is pretty low lag region.

But primarily.
WP Junctions, Residential.
By the two story houses can cause massive lag.
