Erosion and gravel roads
Hey everybody! I’m currently building my base rather deep in the wilderness and it’s connected to a network of gravel roads. The first month just passed and I’m starting to see vegetation growing through sand roads. I’m now wondering if grass, bushes and trees will also grow through the gravel roads in the future. Thank you for your help !

Yes I read that thread but if I compare it to other ones, it still seems unclear if vegetation grows through the original gravel roads of the game, There is a trick clearly to build your own gravel paths and prevent vegetation growth with wood floor tiles otherwise. I add a second question : does driving a vehicle on gravel roads might wear it down more quickly than on asphalt roads ?

Yes, bushes and saplings will grow on the gravel paths that are on the map. On top of that, they also grow on any poured gravel paths you might make.

The only way that I know of that stops bushes and saplings from growing is to build a wooden floor. Then if you want to make it look real nice, pour gravel bags over your wooden driveways, it ends up looking surprisingly good.

I think gravel roads don't actively damage your vehicle like offroading does, but it's just a touch slower than road roads. Also if you do build wooden driveways, they act like roads as well.

Remove gravel, remove dirt, build wooden floor, then pour gravel over. -> 100% no vegetation growth AND ALSO STOPS erosion of gravel road.
Normal gravel roads can erode.
Thank you for your answers ! I would have to keep the original gravel roads free from the vegetation, which could reveal to be a hassle. We will see!

There is one other option if dont mind mods.
There is a mod called Zombie Harvester. It is a combine tractor, and it removes trees, shrubs and weeds. It is not balanced... But you could use it only to drive up your road to clear it. If you use it for more you will become to OP. So its a two edged sword. It works well for that use.. but has other OP uses. Though in settings you can remove those other uses!

Thanks I will take a look at this mod. It could be a relief if my gravel tracks become a jungle !

Ya I spawned one in on a test run save.. and it became moving fortress. I stopped needing to worry about any thing. Just had to watch for blades to stop spinning. If do then you need to retreat.

Again I have to stress only use it on your roads for clearing or you ruin game. I only mention mod as it is best way I found to clear roads of trees and such. Unless you collect lot of gravel or sand to cover wood roads. I do like how you can turn off in settings all the functions. So it is less OP. I cant use it as I tend to.. get spoiled with it and rely on it too much lol

Yeah, we would only need a lawn tractor of some sort, or even a simple lawn mower.
I saw what looked like one once.. but cant find it again sadly. And dont know if it actually did anything. But ya some kind of lawn mower or tractor would be awesome.

It would be an...interesting vehicle to add. They could make it move about as fast as you can run (but not sprint) and it would offer no protection from zombies, but it would be a usable vehicle when nothing else is available.

It’s funny, there were some typical John Deer lawn tractors around the US during the 90s.

Could mod a quadrunner into one. Take the script from harvestor for the weeds and saplings. I dont know how to use blender so its out of my modding skill level lol
