If you enjoy easy starts, i would recommend Riverside every day :)
From there just grind out Reloading to 5 and then saw off a shotgun and bang, the character's set for long term survival on day 2.
There's gas stations both to the north and south very nearby, and there's two warehouses on both sides as well for your tools, sledgehammers, nails etc. It's such a wham-bam thank you ma'am if you know what you're doing. :)
I think you really can't go wrong with either one, but I definitely hear you about Rosewood lacking resources. So can Riverside too if you're unfortunate to start in the trailer park with half of the trailers being swarmed with zombos.
Don't get me wrong, it has those things.
You can get litterature in the bookshop, the school and the tribunal 2nd floor. (and the second gas station)
But, the availability and quantity is much, much inferior to that of Riverside, hence why it's not "the best spawn location" to my mind. It's fine.
Riverside litterature:
. school's bigger, quite a lot so in fact, and has a second floor.
. Post office has tons of litterature.
. The Riverside boatclub *will* have most skill books and magazines.
. It has a bookshop as well
. it has 2 gas stations
. it has a large gated community that has very large homes with lots of bookshelves.
. It has a VHS store
Riverside industrial:
. it has 2 factory buildings, Rosewood has none.
- it has a self storage building ^^
Ultimately as people get better at PZ they eventually realize none of it really matters because cars exist and people rarely shack up in Rosewood long term, so whatever short comings is adressed by hopping on a car and going to march ridge and/or Muldraugh eventually.
I have other issues with Rosewood as a spawn.
- in Build 41, much of Rosewood south and west has no functioning foraging table. it's just non implemented there.
- Rosewood has only 1 little access to water, and that access is in that non functioning foraging zone.
- It's so freakishly tiny, if i get to it, it's stripped bare rather quickly and then you're left with large driving distances to reach Louisville.
Well it may not be as powerful of a fast tracked start as starting in the heart of Riverside, but i kind of like it as well to be honest...
It gets you super close to a lot of cars, a lot of weapons and copious amounts of food. Unless you're playing on a large pop setting, the trailer park is quite a fine play ground for training skills and using trailers to further the head smacking.
Some people enjoy setting up shop in the self storage or the factory buildings too..
I think ultimately you do leave Riverside anyways and go look for bigger and better in Louisville and such, but at least you can have a good few months of enjoyment in there first and want for litterally nothing.
I would also Riverside at the moment before map expansion
It is too isolated for my liking
I have always been a Westpoint and i think i always will be
Though i go for Muldraugh aswell
Now
on a Single Player Run
On insane settings i will go Rosewood and Riverside.
Because they are still fun to play
but on a game where i expect to go on for a long time,
like in a multiplayer scenario, i much prefer Westpoint and Louisville at this point in time (before map expansion) Simply because i find it to be a funner place to live.
Sometimes i go for the isolation and i walk from Rosewood or Riverside i have done the walk, even on insane, to the Jamieton and Middletown with the Farming Hunting Shop
The walk is nice from both locations.
can do it day 1 on starter energy and condition and you can get places to sleep on the way that are safe.
But for me
for reasons alraedy said
it lacks a lot of the loot i am interested in, and there is too much forest and farmland surrounding it the walk elsewhere does feel like a trek. But if i am starting there and know i can get a car for guarantee its a good starter for a quick access to weapons and axes.
There are less places to hide in multiplayer settings on PVP from rosewood and riverside
there is less access to weapons if there are faction or gangs regularly looting.
The density of houses in Lousiville the number of cupboards and rooms the sheer volume of rooms in total, means you can scrape a nice living just sneaking around and avoiding PVP while u build up.
While the roads
on the west map
are like choke points.
So you can bump into cars along the way etc etc and its common to see somebody else on those roads because there are less roads and paths to choose from to get from A to B.
Therefor its not as safe as LV either. So for many strategy unless it is to go into the woods, then you have major advantage of hiding places, but for many strategy for solo player in PVP vs potentially factions.
Its not providing a strong enough advantage to level the field due to loot limitations.
You won't be able to transport all this equipment with vanilla vehicles tho. I use modded vehicles/trailers.
Absolutely. Riverside Spiffo's has a drive-thru, after all.
and i mean you can walk a long way down a street out in the farm lands
to reach a house for looting and the loot is not good.
and then its another trek to the next house
Just outside rosewood there is that setup.
The distance between houses, and the quality of loot,
does not always outweigh the chance for good loot.
While in lousville and to some extent westpoint the number of loot containers outweighs a bad looting chance more effectively.
So like again like joining a server that has lots of players and had run for a long time, and does not have any special fast loot respawn settings, where they just sometimes respawn, like once in 2 IRL days or something. well
If u started Rosewood in those conditions you will be off to a foraging start thats all i can say.
For insustrial stuff Rosewood is not far from that huge Industrial site normally filled with tools somewhere between mul and rosewood, a small turning it has car parks and some office stuff, while also having 2 effectively giant tool sheds filled with crates.
Its kind of near those Roadside stalls you get near the major farm houses with wells and stuff.
