Search function of the forum or your preffered search engine is available.
Multiple videos about multiplayer available to watch.

Looking for group discussion, Server Ads discussion can give a good idea how many play multi.
Discord server also allows to recruit for or to join multi.

Not exactly sure what you even want???

Most people use the official discord server and have people who host or people who advertiae their lil pz communities with thwir own discord server. You are given a ip and you just connect to it like other mp games.

Really neat met some nice people there

I woukd look on youtube how to join mp servers to see if its up your alley.

You look for a populated server of your choice wherever you can find them. Official zomboid discord, server ads, and so on so forth. There's PVPVE and PVE. I recommend choosing PVE servers unless you're the type to enjoy fighting other players.

Most servers are modded. People rarely (but there are some) play unmodded Zomboid in multiplayer. Some only has QoL mods but most adds a lot of mods to their servers.

Multiplayer is a steaming hot mess. Just how it is lol
If you are not hosting yourself or dont have a friend that hosts honestly dont waste your time...
You can technically just jump into an open server in the browser but they are typically over modded cess pits :evadebullets:

If you have no friends at all i'd suggest joining the discord/reddit and asking for an invite to a private server that caters to your tastes...typically these will be more chilled out and better moderated. Many also run special events such as survival games or 10 years later runs.

I've run a small server for my buddies for over 2 years, its a massive pain in the rear to keep operational lol the multiplayer system is horrifically outdated and jank, no one knows what kind of upgrades the next game build will bring other than "dynamic lighting" "simple mod menus" and "tile render fix"...which is woefully pitiful after 3+ years since launching multiplayer... :waytohell:
