building a road
i've googled this for like 2 days lol and i either find contradicting answers, or the answers are 2-6 years old.

i don't care if vegetation like grass grows on the road, i just want to stop saplings/trees from growing. to do this what are my options?

1. build a road of wooden floors. is this all i need to do to stop trees from growing? or do i need to remove the dirt then build the floor? what tools are required for this job? just a shovel/carpentry stuff?

2. build a road with gravel bags. does this option require anything other than a bag of gravel?

3. gravel and a wood floor. i read in a thread that i needed to remove dirt, build a wooden floor, and then put gravel on top. is this really what is required? or does this option stop tress AND vegetation and that's what they were referring to?

1) Yes, all you need to do is put wood floors down and no more trees.

2) Gravel will take longer to develop trees but from my understanding they will still grow unless you put wood down first and then gravel on top. Yes all you need is a bag of gravel though I think one bag only holds four squares of gravel. You can find gravel and put in in a bag.

3) I'm not sure but I know putting floor down first stops trees growing and I think veg too. I think you should be fine with a wood floor only.

I built a road connecting these two roads once only using wood flooring. It was very dumb and a lot of work but nothing grew on the path way

I always removed dirt and placed down wooden floor.-> 100% no more vegetation growing there. I also usually poured sand or gravel over it.

You don't have to remove dirt if you just want to stop bushes and saplings from growing. Wooden floor is enough. Sand and gravel are just fashion addition.

yeah my only goal is to create a drivable path with the least amount of work possible. and option 1 seems to be the best choice. especially if the path i'm making is through a forest so the wood is all there anyway lol.
