Fullscreen issues
When i turn on either full screen, borderless window, or both, it simply moves it to the top left corner at whatever size resolution i have selected, without being full screen. This means that the only way for it to be actually full screen is to select the resolution of my screen which isn't optimal because 3840x2160 makes everything on the UI tiny. Any way to make it full screen with a lower resolution?

I have a 4K monitor and I'm having the same issues. After 20 mins trying I just gave up and went to play GTA5 again.

You can manually configure the resolution by going to the game's config folder and editing options.ini. If you don't know how to find the config folder pcgamingwiki can help. You will have tiny text but I believe there is a mod for increasing the text size to larger than the default sizes.

You have to make your way to the .exe and right click on it and go to properties. Then click over to the compatibility tab and there should be a button on there that says "Change high DPI settings." Click it and then check the box marked "Override high DPI scaling behavior" and then click ok and Apply. Then relaunch the game and enjoy it in fullscreen.

Posting this here in case it helps somehow, but to be clear: I don't care, I feel stupid for even trying to play this game, as it only seems to become less functional every time since I bought it 12 years ago.

Any time I select fullscreen from the options, the game immediately disappears. It seems to still be running, somewhere, & I have to force close the application from the task manager. I have a normal, non-tryhard monitor running native 1920x1080 in Windows 7. I tried the DPI stuff I saw mentioned just in case, but the options are greyed out in the properties for the 64 bit version of the game.

Doing a search of the forum for "fullscreen" didn't yield any other results, just people trying to play on 35235x42535 monitors predictably hitting problems, so maybe it's just me, in which case feel free to disregard this post.

I'll run Zomboid again in another 4 years to see if it can manage to crash even sooner.

I'm not going to magically sort it out - you are, hopefully, because you're game devs. I'm just a guy who invested in a game that's never going to see release, but got a client that disappears when you try to put it in fullscreen.

Putting my salt at my own financial choices aside for as brief a time as possible, I would have mentioned any random error messages, pop ups, or any other relevant information if I had it. I've turned off & unplugged my (disabled) second monitor just in case it was trying to display on that for no reason, restarted my pc, same result. The game just disappears, playing music, Steam says it's running, it shows up in task manager under processes, but not applications. Windowed & Borderless window "work," but I'm not interested in doing that.

Like I said, I'm posting this in the unlikely event it helps development or other users. I was stupid enough to be disappointed by this project, again, but I'm definitely not making the mistake of going down a troubleshooting rabbithole just to get invested in a game that will no doubt be completely overhauled again next year.

UPDATE:
Despite my entirely real frustration & bad attitude towards this product, because I have some kind of brain problem I kept messing with it & managed to work around it by turning down the resolution, THEN turning on fullscreen, then turning my resolution back to 1920x1080.

Dunno why that worked, I definitely don't care, but there it is in case anyone else encounters this issue.

Glad you solved your issue, but I kind of take issue with your "I'm not going down a troubleshooting rabbit hole." comment. If you can't be bothered to troubleshoot anything I'm not quite sure why you even try to game on PC. The thing is that gaming on PC isn't the same as gaming on console and sometimes troubleshooting is just necessary, because unlike consoles PCs can have a wide variety of hardware configurations, so a game might work for one person but not another just based on the hardware and drivers. If you can't be bothered with troubleshooting ever, then you should probably consider getting a console to play on instead due to PCs not always being cut and dry. You can take offence to what I said if you want, but I'm speaking as someone who has been gaming on PC for many years at this point and have had to troubleshoot many a game myself before learning to build my own rig using the most supported hardware, but even then I occasionally still have to troubleshoot ♥♥♥♥. Hell I even had to figure out the DPI scaling I mentioned earlier myself when I got a 4k screen, because the issue wasn't very prominent and there were no solutions to it here on the forum. Troubleshooting is just the nature of the beast sometimes.

I'm not reading all that, but I'm happy for you. Or, sorry that happened.

I can only guess from the description that it was still being displayed on the second, disconnected monitor. If this were the case, it might have been solveable by right-click -> move on its icon in the task bar.

Windows doesn't provide any way to preserve window position after a monitor is disconnected or shut off, so I don't know how that could happen. If you're using software that preserves position, a KVM switch, or an EDID emulator, it might explain it.

Either way, telling me to fix it for you and getting upset when asking for more details will accomplish nothing but waste both of our time. And I really like using my time for other things, as I'm sure you do, too.

I'll get back to you about this in 10 years, when my troubleshooting gets out of early access. As I said, I posted this in case anyone else encounters the same issue. Didn't ask for your help, it's not my job to fix your game, or even to help you fix your game.

It's one thing to take money for something & then never finish it; that's the biz, just how it goes sometimes, but if you're salty about me "wasting your time" by describing a problem I'm having somewhere you can see it...all I can say is, at least you didn't pay me 15 bucks for privilege.

This solution worked for me. Can happily play on 4k monitor as a resolution where the text and gui are readable.
