Days survived removed from Info?
I'm about 6 or 7 days in to a new playthrough and my Info tab doesn't say how long I've been playing, Did I turn something off? I'm getting anxious about the helicopter event. No mods.

You need a watch, or an alarm clock in your main inventory.

I have the alarm clock and for some reason that tells me the date, but maybe only the digital watch gives days played? Either way, I have a car for the first time ever before Helicopter Event, so I should be ok. Just making my IRL anxiety go up!

As soon as I posted that, I went back to my game and immediately heard the chopper. Sounds like a Huey Bell. I made it up to the northwest corner of the map, honking the horn all the way.

The chopper came around three times and the zeds got so thick at one point I could barely plow through them. But I made it back to my neighborhood by nightfall and there were only 2 zombies in my yard.

This is the first time in Build 41 that I have made it past helicopter day. Is there a pity algorithm built into the game. If you fail to make it through week 1 more than a hundred times, do they just throw you a bone?

I only made it because I started as Carpenter and immediately found all the loot. House after house of Wood Axe, Saw, Hammer, Screwdriver. Got to a quiet neighborhood with a fence on one side and started buttoning up a house.

The realtor at the FOR SALE house in Muldraugh, by Cortman Medical, left the keys to his dusty blue station wagon with a full tank of gas. That, and enough canned food from around the neighborhood, made this one possible.

iirc you need the electrical wrist watch that gives you the temps to be able to see how many days you survived
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Nope. Chopper/Helicopter day is quite random. Usually it is on the 7th day, but it can also occur on any other day.(Well at least used to be like that during last year's end.) I had it coming on the 3rd day, but also on the 15th day. Lately it is usually around the 6-8th day.
There are multiple ways of surviving the chopper.
One is to drive away and lure everything away if you have a car. (You were lucky this time.)
Another way is just to take a walk, and lead the zeds far away.(It can be quite hard and risky on apocalypse!)
A third option is to stay inside a two storied buiding and just HIDE, do not move, do not do anything, best time to read and watch tv on lowest volume.

In Muldrough I actually survived most of the time with this third option, when i stayed in the doctor's house. It is one of the best hideouts there.
There are actually three good places you can hideout at the beginning. The doctors house, the large warehouse at the northern edge of the city. And finally the "Safe house with one way in". This latter though requires the most preparation since it is a 1 story building.(Best option is to block entrance with 2 cars)
Another option is to move to the McCoy logging company. It has everything you need and is like 2 hours of sneaking away from Muldrough. The boxes contain a lot of usefull stuff, and you can saw them to get carpentry xp. And once you ran out of boxes, well the forest is near you.
Also abourt 80% of the time there is at least one car with a key there.

In Rosewood i survived the chopper day, by just...staying on the second story of the house by the gas station. Watching and reading, it gathered nearly all the zombies from town there. And since the chopper likely went north, it triggered a decent migration too, away from the town. So whereas the starting condition were quite harsh with nearly barely any chance to sneak it is now quite okay.

Also if you get yourself a sledgehammer you are basicly set with sheetropes, since you can destroy the stairs with it, making nearly every second story building a possible safe house.

Oh, that guy is long dead. F@#ked it up in the dumbest way possible. But, in the last playthrough, I managed to sit it out in the shed attached to the white house a block or two north of Cortland. I had enough food and a book, so I just sat on the floor and listened to those creepy f@#kers walk back and forth for a day and a half. Easily the most tense time playing PZ ever

better to do it at a house with second story. Just bring the tv up to your locked room, and you wont miss the tv show free exp neither. just remember...the volume MATTERS:D
