Does anyone have this game running on a pi5?

lol
uhhh not that im aware of... considering minecraft has to be heavily dumbed down to work on a pi i doubt anyone will get PZ working on a pi anytime soon. pretty sure youd have to reprogram the entire game to even work on ARM architecture

I'm not all that bright but The rabbit hole I'm chasing down looks like you can "emulate" x86 at the cost of resources. I'm trying to figure out if anyone else has tried and how far I would have to go (adding ram and maybe cheap pawn shop GPU).

if its anything like wine then its not really worth the trouble imo. same thing with adding an external gpu and external ram. i would bet the bottleneck would be the cpu and at that point if you have to add an external gpu, external ram, and replace the cpu, its not a pi anymore. you may as well just buy an old desktop and upgrade that at this point. that would save yourself a lot of trouble and be just as expensive if not cheaper (pis are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ expensive!)
may i ask why you are trying to run project zomboid on a pi?

use it for robotics or for custom screen
run some stuff thats under 100mb.
zomboid uses a lot of stuff. and what use to sometimes a save file is like a gb

I consider it the holy grail of an all in one arcade that I can assemble and send to some folks that don't have a pc

i see... yeah it works for some older games but games are just not designed to fit on that low power of computers anymore. i would recommend buying up cheap old desktops for like $20 online and pimping those out instead. you can get decent gpus for like 50$ and some not-so-decent ones for like 20$, and monitors are so cheap these days you can go to most thrift stores and pick one up for like less than 15$. im sure they'd cost a bit more to ship but the recipients would be able to play a lot more on them and they could even do some other tasks that pi cant really do well like video/image editing and more intensive emulation such as dolphin. im sure they would appreciate it a lot more than an overpriced toy computer :p

yea the funny thing is a used office pc is much more powerful than a pi while also being cheaper. only downsides are size and of cuz power consumption.

yeah exactly. but also i mean you could theoretically cut down on the size a lot by getting rid of the case and building your own custom one. if you wanna fit most gpus in the motherboard you kinda have to ditch the stock case anyways. i think with proper ventilation even just a cardboard box would work fine, though i havent tested that myself so i would be careful trying that.
besides that yeah its a lot of power and a lot of heat. can double as a heater during the winter months :D
if youre concerned about power consumption im sure you can get similar amount of computation out of old used android phones running linux. though those are more of a pain to repair and work on.

I have PZ installed on my Casio Calculator Watch!
Surely it can run on a pi5 😁
to be clear im not trying to ♥♥♥♥ talk the pi or op, i think the pi is a neat piece of hardware for hobbyists (if not overpriced compared to competitors) and op's intentions are very kind. i just think for op's purposes and for most gamers and computer users a pi is an inadequate, inconvenient, and overly priced device. like khergit said earlier you can get a better device out of an old office desktop for a lot cheaper with downsides that don't really matter to most users. i would hope that op does not take this negatively and implore them to look more into this as both it's a great way to repurpose old electronics and will achieve their goal more efficiently. i often thrift old computers and upgrade them as a hobby so if you want any pointers feel free to add me and dm me about it.

little nodules control the volrage output at gate.
if i was cheaper than 75 bucks in my country
i mean that seems cheap to me
but its too expensive and you cant make a hand held console that you can then supply out of it. But for a hobby and learn. figure out and then try to make a producible product that runs game cartridges is pretty cool thing i'd want involvement with

I appreciate all feedback or criticism, the reason I leaned into the pi5 is because I have one so I could make an image to send along with the unit, just an arcade box but if pz ran then it would kick it up a notch for everyone.

I've repurposed alot of older PC's but got rid of my horde during house Reno's and the boys are in different countries.

Would anyone have any suggestions on another 'mini PC' that might be up for the task?

cheapest bang for buck and adequate mini pc would be something like an intel n100, you can buy those on aliexpress for the best deals, multiple brands but underneath they are pretty much the same thing altho with different configs of ram and storage.

Sorry for the delayed response, I have been diving into alternate ideas to build the arcade box, n100 does looks promising but its going to take a minute to buy one for testing and build it out.

does anyone whos following have a working set up that they would like to share some pros n cons to expect?
