I'm sure they have their reasons.

Yeah, the reasons being that they didn't feel like working on it.
Be nice.

Sorry, I meant they felt like working on it, but not as much as doing whatever else they've done so far.

I don't believe that sitting was a focal point for B41, it was all about turning everything in 3d and adding variety and fine tuning. I think it was a possible oversight, but they just decided to choose what to make a compromise over. I noticed that in one of the blog videos, it shows the character sitting, so perhaps they are adding it in B42? Or they're just borrowing a mod for it. Oh, and for some reason if you zoom into yourself while in a car on the map, it will show you sitting in the air on the paper map.

It'd be more accurate to say that it isn't a priority, because it's mostly aesthetics. And implenting features often come with layered complexities that makes things take far longer than anticipated. Consider: if they let you sit in chairs, and every chair requires its own 'masks' to properly occlude the player's model from every angle that allows the player to sit on them, then you also need to do that for all the other furniture that you can 'sit' on like couches, benches, etc. Because none of these are 3d models. They're simple flat images.

Sometimes 'features' that seem simple end up being anything but.

Aesthetics can be a priority depending on what you're going for, if it's immersion then I'd say animation is extremely important, having your character interact with the world they way you would is what creates that sense of immersion. Clicking rest while your character stands there looking at the bed/chair is very goofy, especially considering things like sleeping, watching TV, and reading books are an integral and important part of the game.

I'm not saying it's easy I'm just refuting the idea that aesthetics/animation aren't important in a game like this.

Yeah, this game leans heavy on the immersion side. It really doesn't make sense in this case.

I'd much rather NOT have "immersive muh RP" animations than have animations that are literally hacks, like Higgs said. :D

That's fair, but behind all the conversation, no one is asking for hacks. We're asking on what should have been implemented long ago.

Sure and I do agree with that. Maybe in B42? Since they are working on the engine anyways, it wouldn't be a big ask to have those animations show up at least before B43.

Have you ever tried playing B40 btw? You ought to, you can select it in the Steam library if you right click PZ. I tried it for like 10 minutes before going "Oh hell naw, this ain't it" :D

The difference an entire build can do is yuge. Here's hoping that B42 is an actual full build instead of a few new UIs for making clay pots and a seriously orange lighting scheme. I mean I get it, he won the election, so let's make everything orange. But c'mon.

I'm just getting started personally. The potential I'm about to realize is massive, and I don't mean to downplay all the years of progress. Still surprised at the meticulous detail involved in managing a car, breaking broken glass out of a window before climbing in, and building a house in the same game where you can't sit in a chair. LOL
