carrying spare weapons in backpack?
idk if this is a bad idea. it takes up a lot of encumbrance but i dont really have materials to repair my baseball bat yet and i did find a pretty sweet katana so i just got it lying around in my duffel bag just in case. what are your guys' thoughts on carrying around spare weapons in case your main breaks?

If you arent already it might be worth using the "weapon condition indicator" mod since you will have a visual reminder on screen for when your weapon is getting low and you can disengage before it breaks. Guess it depends on how good your backpack and strength are as well when considering how much space you have left. Personally I tend to keep a backup on my belt (like a night stick etc) in case my main weapon breaks.

it depends on your primary, if it is a baseball bat, it won't last that long, a fire axe will last longer, so maybe not needed spare. A katana cannot be repaired unless you a mod for that, so know it has a lifespan might make it worth having a spare in case you cannot find something as it gets worn down

I usually have a melee weapon, even when using guns as primary, it is always a just in case, also what fits your character, do you have a lot fitness to run around if you are tripped and drop the weapon, or it breaks.I have tripped and been weaponless before

yeah i have that, but my only other weapon was a knife and im not skilled enough to be able to take out hordes with that. mostly i just had the katana on me in case i was far away from home and couldnt get another good weapon on me fast enough

I usually carry the following things in the backpack.
A crowbar. 2 screwdrivers, a handaxe.
4-6 hunting knives. (depending how many i find.)
Usually either a second crowbar or two metal bars, a hammer, a saw.
Then there are the two belt spaces and the back. Once i am strong to fill them i will:P
Usually about 14-15 carry weight or as to say almost half of my backpack is filled with weapons or objects that act both as weapons and tools.
Having spare weapons is crucial.

It depends on the condition of the weapon when I go out looting. I usually have a handaxe and hammer attached to the belt. If the main weapon is close to breaking I'll take a spare main weapon. If it's new and shiny I won't bother

My exploration/looting pack currently contains :
- Wrench... to get engine parts
- Screwdriver... to get weapon parts
- Hammer... to get furniture
- Knife... to get carpet
- Crowbar... to open doors
- Sledge... to open walls
- Misc things : Lighter,Scissors, Battery, Duct Tape

I'm pretty confident rotating between them and replacing them before setting out if they are less than 80-ish percent will ensure I have some kind of melee option if I run out of ammo.

If im out to chop wood with an Axe, i'll pack some wood glue. But I generally don't carry an Axe unless that's the mission.

hy do you need 2 scredrivers? I've had a character go for literally a year ithout needing to replace the trusty backpack scredriver.

(Apologies, my double-u key is on the fritz)

Can get a lot more life out of your weapons by not needlessly damaging them too.

When its safe to push or stomp the zombies, just do that instead. As long as your weapon is equipped, you'll still gain maintenance and weapon XP.

I've got like 50+ kills out of a crafted spear, because I just get the zombies separated from each other, push the stragglers to the ground and stomp them. Really only use the spear as a spear when I'm directly engaging a bunch that are clustered together.

having a spare weapon in the backpack is always a good idea. i have also a boittle of water in it and a lighter, some fastfood, a canopener and medic-aid .

Don't you people use fanny packs for small stuff like lighter and canopener?

I have back fanny pack with meds (except bandages; they take up too much space) and front one with lighter, pen, torch, canopener,...

I do have a backup weapon or two in my backpack, and a hammer on the belt. (Plus a screwdriver or a wrench, depending on what's currently used more.)

I'm a newbie though. :)

Keep in mind that this person's using Common Sense, Which lets crowbars open doors, Good to keep in mind, As it makes crowbars pretty crucial
