Project Zomboid

why is brita weapons considered op?
is it the actual guns or just the sheer amount of ammo you get from those ammo crates that spawn like 3-15 boxes of one ammo type

also is there a way to lower the amount those boxes spawn cause i want to make guns feel like a i need this or ill die kinda of choice and 100+ shotgun shell boxes doesnt really make that easy

Well I would definitely consider the Minigun that takes 520 rounds of 5.56x45mm in a single box mag just a touch OP, and if I may be so bold, I'd add the RPGs to that list as well, but all that can be customized.

Read the Arsenal/Brita's guide that's linked in the mod's description to find out how you lower or disable spawns.

I think adding so many new gun types (scores of them) to the world just ups the weapon drops from day one, so by the end of the first few days, you end up with a high-end assault rifle, pistol, shotgun and a stack of ammo for them...If you know where to look, you can have a canister with 100 boxes of rounds for every weapon you are using within a few days as well. Used with "Advanced Trajectory" it can be an absolute slaughter-fest...you basically become "the one who knocks".

Some say it is OP (and it is), but I would simply counter that by saying that if I'd lived in KY in the 90's, I can guarantee you that I would have had a small arsenal of firearms covering all the bases, so playing as some Kentucky gunslinger sits fine with me.

Apart from lowering drop rates, you could disable all stuff made after 91 to trim it down a bit as well.

Kentucky wasn't the wild west with every home owning firearms. I don't know why people have this bizarre fascination with the kentucky redneck sitting outside his trailer with a shotgun "hootin and hollerin" and shootin them guns all day. It's genuinely a little insulting.

Well over 50% of Kentuckians own firearms and looks like in the 90s that number was around the 40% mark, so that would definitely mean that vanilla PZ's gun spawns are lacking and badly too.

Rural Kentucky is probably pretty Terminator'd up if I had to guess. Get rid of them coyotes 'n raccoons and all. (Steam thinks that the short version of the word raccoon is a cussword, lol)

I've lived in Kentucky most of my life. I was born and raised here. I can tell you unequivocally, that your 50% statistic is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I don't know if you've heard but there's this thing on the internet.
It's called Google.
You can type stuff on it, and it kinda like answers most of the time.
It's pretty rad.

Right, so show me, show everyone, your sources. Do the research and post links here.

Typing this out from my other computer but here goes.
https://www.rand.org/research/gun-policy/gun-ownership.html

That's just one of the results and it puts Kentucky up to 49% in 2016.

But if it's too much to ask that you simply Google "gun ownership in Kentucky", I guess I just can't help you much more than this.

It isn't my responsibility to back up your claims is it? That data is irrelevant anyway as it's for 2016. It neither represents present day nor 23 years ago.

Also, 1 source is not conclusive, you need to provide at least 3. You should know this from college.

Yes, okay. You cannot back up your claims. Have a nice day.

The amount of firearms always seemed like a weird debate. In the end, it's a game that needs to be balanced. If you had realistic amounts of loot, the house you start in would probably have enough food for a week or more. Finding a sledge hammer would be trivial. Most cars would have some level of gas in them.

It's OP because (as BDZ1972 said), you end up with lots of guns and ammo just blasting through everything. Basically it becomes more like L4D or Dead Island gunning everything down, and less of an actual survival game.

That being said, if you up the difficulty with zed-specials and spawn density, it can become interesting.
