The Difference Between a Burger and a Sandwich
this is game changer btw

the difference between

a Single stale Cabbage Sandwich and a Single stale Cabbage Burger

Cabbage Sandwich ---
Weight : 0.28
Hunger: -13
Thirst: -4
Boredom: +10
Unhappiness: +15
Calories Carbs Proteins and Fats are the same.

Cabbage Burger ---
Weight : 0.42 ++
Hunger: -20 ++
Thirst: -9 ++
Boredom : 0 +++
Unhappiness: -5 +++

Burger is superior in all accounts, Not sure why i can make a burger as i have no meat on me just 1 cabbage and 2 pieces of bread. As you can see the difference is quite major for what is essentially the same item of a bread and cabbage sandwich renamed burger.

The cooking system and recipes need a bit of an overhaul, honestly.

I'd like to be able to dice up insects and worms and salt them in a frying pan. Real life people actually eat them that way...or covered in chocolate. Considered a delicacy in some places. :P

I agree, crickets can be heard and they are a supplement of protein to a survivalist. Must cook them first though, worms i think is too far, even though you can eat worms, i think eating worms is like. its gotta be off the menu. Small net traps would be good for crickets. Or light trap, something with a lightbulb could get alot of insects. But i think the only real viable insect would be the cricket for a diet. Cockroaches like in the sims to act as pests could be interesting. Like if they move the same way and hide underneath objects.

I think it would be fine if you diced them up enough and added them to meat for extra protein before cooking. Or maybe to a stew. Wouldn't even be able to tell if you prepared it right.

It's kind of like how eating dead mice or rats gives you unhappiness if you don't butcher them first. Makes me sad when i see people do that in videos and they have a knife they could easily skin it with.

Problem with a diet of worm salad is that it could potentially be abused to produce an unrealistic survival strategy. As no culture on earth exists purely on worm salad alone, but it could be strategic possible to survive a zombie apocalpyse deep in the woods eating worms. And eating the worm is not present in all cultures. Even like tribal amazon they dont just eat worms. In china where insect eating can be big, real supplement is on large insect like scorpion, and others, it is also fast to farm them, and easy to farm them. I would in real life eat a bunch of stuff before even considering a worm salad. Plus, a worm in a salad to add an ingredient to the salad to boost happiness of that salad, the worm should be used in a bird trap to catch a small bird for use in the salad. Sliced worm cabbage potato carrot and brocolli salad sounds like the worm would add nothing but unhappiness, however finely sliced it was.

I didn't say add it to salad. I said add it to meat or stew. Would be particularly effective if we had access to a blender and could mince it into wormmeal. People eat all sorts of things.

I just want more recipe options, is all.
TBH the real protein source in a scenario with abundant rotten food (and rotten flesh) would be maggots.

lol

the ability to create meatloaf

Earthworms ain't that bad though it's like eating something like a cheese combined with sand.

Anyway, fishing and trapping should be working through out the entire year. Hell, trapping is even easier during winter.
Trapping should be little reworked to use any string possible + ability to create string from stuff.

I also miss a LOT of wild foods - acorns, wild nuts, Birch leafs, Lime Tree feafs, Spruce and Pine needles and hell of a lot more herbs that can be eaten or used to create a hot drink.

Seriously this needs to implemented.

Orchard farming

Hafting Fibres can be made from stripping most branches with a knife. Youl get a good enough fiber to make a bird trap or cage trap but wouldn’t work with a snare.

True season forage would be epic. Forage is one of my most neglected stat next to tayloring. I only use it for fishing and trap bait. But I would use it for mushrooms and nuts.

On another note

Making Alcohol out of Rotten Fruit
In real life it goes —
Rotten Fruit —-> alcohol
And the distilled
However -
If you do not distill it and continue to ferment - rot it without allowing animals and germs to get in, while still allowing air in — if you do not distill fermented alcohol in real life a germ starts to eat the alcohol content of your ferment and when it’s finished you are left with vinegar. Which is an advanced preservative. Because no micro organisms is willing to feed on it. And it’s all that’s left at the end when the alcohol produced by fermentation is eaten

There's a mod for trees that I use that still works pretty good:

AM speaking of mechanic abuse and following up on our salad / happiness discussion cutting a single cabbage into a salad will give -5 to unhappiness. I just stand next to the fridge and repeat until I'm happy for a completely renewable and hassle free anti depressant.

Kaldrak have you tried

https://pzmodding.blogspot.com/2019/12/Le-Gourmet-Revolution.html

I don't think it's available on the workshop... (it's there but it's in Chinese so I'm not sure how that will affect the game. I'm not up with all this hip tech stuff). Added to which the mod supplier on our workshop is not the creator.

The website is in French (I think) however if you translate the page this mod supports three languages (English being one).

MrAtomicDuck got exited about it on YT

lol you should still grow more than just cabbage. Small bird, rabbit x 2 cabbage, tomato, radish
Keep it simple I say. Cabbage is fast and it's awesome rabbit bait. Between rabbits and cabbage I don't have to spend much time worrying about food. Once winter subsides I might not even bother going back to fishing / foraging.

(Truth be told I have started a few indoor carrot crops for that extra edge to my bunny traps).

I’ve been wondering the viability of sustainable living on the second floor of a house with the stairs knocked out and no sheet rope. Permanently settled up there, with access to the roof and buckets on the roof with farm on the roof and warmth in the house, sustainable cold food diet, automatic timers to draw zom away from the house. If the player can permanently exist among the infinite zom sustainably never having to return to the ground once set up.

Perhaps hundreds of mouse traps

No cans

No refrigerator

Crop cycle sow one seed every day. 30 tiles of farm for the month. Try to get harvest every day.

Will weight loss eventually result in death?
