If you are talking about vanilla metalworking, you can get metal pipes from disassembling cars and bathtubs. I think toilets and sinks also give metal pipes. Or, you can find them in garages and warehouses.

Car wrecks have been the best source of metal bars and metal pipes I've found, but it takes an entire propane charge per wreck, so better stock up on propane and propane accesories, yup.
