Shooting range
Using a m9 I have to wait for the z come at 1 case range to get green and need 3 4 hit to die.... What the plan here?

If your aiming skill is at 0, I would recommand to not use pistols at all (until you get at the very least lvl 2, and you're good to go at lvl 4).

Try to use shotgun in the first place to train your aiming skill (for some reasons shotgun will always be accurate no matter your aiming skill).

If you can, at the character creation, try to get at least 1 starting point in aiming skill (either with a profession, or the "Hunter" perk). You'll then level up that skill significantly faster.

Also, to clarify something... you'll never 1-shot a zombie with a single pistol shot (or maybe with the magnum one) if they are full hp, you'll need 2 most of the time, if you aiming skill is good enough.

This game has problem with range system...

- Noise generator has too low range,
- Radio has too low range,
- Talkie walkie have too low range,
- Shouting has too low or too high range,
- Weapon have unrealistic range...

Range is problematic in this game it seem he can't handle it correctly

Assuming you are talking about sound range the guns in project zomboid are actually unrealistically quiet. I live out in the boonies in Oklahoma and can often hear my neighbors shooting shotguns from 1-2 km away. Guns are LOUD!

I'm not sure what you mean with radio and talky walky "too low range", you can manually adjust how loud they are. Do you mean it doesn't have enough range even at there loudest ?

If you want to lure z, you can use radio in theory, but the max noise range is 17 tiles, is random also and it can just attract 1 or 2 z. Instead we have to use shout while standing up or weapon. Infiltration simply do not work. Like weapons, explosive, remote detonator, all are useless. With a pistol I have to wait the z come a 1 tile of me to to have hit chance. One tile. Lol.

At the reverse, just walking can attract all z around in 50 tiles. The noise range system need an entire rework.

My guess about radio and talky walky is, since the "sound" of it is only perceptible when you're close, the only other clue you have (as a player) is the actual text or whatever that comes from them that you can see (instead of hear), which makes me think it's limited to the distance view when you're zoomed out.

Some weapons do less sound than others. The small pistol is the most quiet one, but if you shoot with a rifle, be sure you'll see a lot of them come.
Also, the way zombie hearing works is that the further away they are from the sound, the less accurate they will be to find the source (if they are 100 case away from the sound, they'll go toward a case that could be up to 50 case aways from the actual source).

Yes but having no other alternative than shouting and walking around 100z give a very few gameplay option

When you have no other option, it's most likely because you have driven yourself in a situation like that. And yes indeed, after you fired that shot, your gameplay options are very limited.

It's a last resort kinda thing. When you do it, be sure of the consequences that will come with it.

The problem is not the consequences, read the topic please, it's the range of weapon that are entirely useless. What the plan where a pistol cannot be usable above 1 meter? It's a water pistol?

Your aiming skill is too low to use it unless you press the gun right up against the zeds body. Get a couple of points using shotguns first or start as a police officer.

That just I criticize, having bad aim is not the problem here, the problem is the totally unrealistic base range

But that has no interest to speak about range because no one can repair that here.

Also having shooting practice, like we have for fitness and train can be a nice thing.

Yes, bad aim is the problem. So here's how it works. From level 0 to 3 you are meant to use shotguns. Pistols and rifles will not be effective at all before level 3 in aiming. At about level 3 you can start using pistols, but they won't hit their maximum effectiveness until about level 6 or 7 and after that rifles start to become effective. There is a progression to using firearms.
