How to cook insects?
My question is straightforward, how can you can cook the insects you can find with foraging? You cant put them into many dishes, thus do you throw them inside an oven/microwave to cook them?

Or are there other methods?

Just use an oven (or maybe microwave, never tried it there).

I'm curious if the microwave gives and additional "microwaved" mood debuff to cooked insects. They have a pretty hefty negative as it is. I'll have to try that.

You can just drop the bugs directly into your heat source, they dont go stale/rotten if you want them as backup food :-)

We have debuff when we cook on microwave??

Insects are best for power levelling cooking (2.5XP per one) and as a bait for fishing (preferrable on a long run IMO).

Oh yeah. How good does microwaved steak sound to you?
Seriously, take a piece of raw steak or chicken or fish and fully cook it in a microwave (in the game of course, you monster). It gets a mood malus added to it.

MrMinMax is right. I played on a server with a custom mod where you could craft a cure, with extreme difficulty (because otherwise it would seriously defeat the entire point of the game). One of the many requirements for crafting a cure was level 10 cooking, so everyone was microwaving grasshoppers. And stumbling around on lacerated feet because they also had to get first aid to level 10. It was wild. I won't even say what the ingredients you needed were...

Thank you, i shall try cooking them in any heat source, probably the oven or if the power cuts out in my current run, a nearby barbecue. Eating the bugz raw seems like an awful idea, especially with a weak stomach character.

When the power does cut out, everything in your fridge will slowly gain temperature and will then spoil the normal rate. There aren't any storage containers that can run off-grid or have independent (other fuel usage) for some days to keep things cool or frozen?

You can use jars (lid not included, look for those as well), along with sugar, vinegar and water to pickle vegetables like cabbage and potatoes to make it last much longer. Just need a heat source once you've jarred something, otherwise it will not work.

Sugar and vinegar is limited, however, and are not foragable as far as I know, so it's not too viable long term.

Use them as bite for fishing. Garher insects, and later when time is come, use them. With at least some decent fishing skill few insects spend as bite will give you dozens more as food, calories and protein.

Can you add them to soup or stew?

Nope.

They're best as fishing or trapping bait. Get that skill up to speed and those insects will return MUCH better food.
