Just rclick the pot of water and it will give you an option to make stew or soup with any appropriate ingredients in range. They dont need to be in your inventory so standing by a kitchen cupboard/fridge etc works. Honestly would have to check to see if you can make a soup just from canned beans. You might need to put other stuff in first.
Worth noting you can use tainted water for this (from a stream, river or collected rainwater) since cooking the stew/soup will remove the tainted status.
Specifically for canned beans btw, just put them in a bowl and you can heat them up in a microwave or oven. Once again, just rclick the bowl when you have an opened can of beans nearby and you should see an option to "make a bowl of beans". Eating them cold will give you some unhappiness so best to warm them up.
I don't remember if the amount of water matters or not, but try filling the pot with water to the max.
If this still doesn't change anything, one of your mods could be breaking the game's functions.
Hey I just wanted to thank you both so much! Putting both in my inventory and right clicking the pot of water allowed me to make soup!
I also figured out something else I was doing wrong: I'm so used to The Long Dark, where you cook everything on stove tops, that I didn't understand that you had to stick them inside the oven to cook them. Even something like soup, which is usually cooked on top of the stove irl, has to be cooked in the oven.
I had previously thought I was sticking the pot on top of the stove, but it was an illusion based on perspective and it turns out I was actually sticking it on the floor. I didn't realize that at first. So learned something new haha.
Thanks again!
