alarms are you not the house
i was just now reminded that when a house alarm goes off, the zombies dont go to the house, they go to YOU. cause a house alarm just went off by itself in the distance, and zombies, from every direction, INCLUDING FROM THE DIRECTION THE ALARM IS GOING OFF, came STRAIGHT to where i was.

no, no zombies saw me

no, no zombies heard me

no, no zombies smelled me

no, no zombies tasted my Ahole

AND FURTHER MORE, WHY DO ALARMS STILL WORK, WHEN THE POWER GOES OUT.

That's strange. I've never had zombies go after me during any alarm unless I literally go out of my way to get their attention or sometimes I'll zip by some incoming zombies to get out of the area and wait out the influx.

You're probably attracting their attention without realising it. Zombies can see quite far by default. Usually from edge to edge of your screen by default and they'll hear if your character runs from about the same distance, depending on skill and which running mode you use.

yes, the zombies saw me through 3 layers of walls and a treeline, after the house alarm went off 30 seconds ago. makes sense

You gotta be trollin' lol. You got any mods? What are you zombie settings or game mode? (eg, apocolypse, sandbox, ect)

i mean i have a few mods, one of them makes it so zombies have a rare chance to open doors by themselves, and another that makes it so they can destroy stuff without the player. but i still dont see how that would make them auto pilot towards me without seeing or hearing me while they can hear an alarm going off in the distance

Do you have zombie set to pin point hearing?

Can you link me to the mod that allows them to destroy stuff without the player? you got any other mods that might mess with zombie perception or sound or sight?

IF not then it sounds like you need to varify file integrity and possible restart your game.

you're mistaken. they saw you or heard you or you were in the way resulting in them seeing or hearing you. i've played thousands of hours and have seen every situation imaginable many many many times. zombies never just home in on you with magic powers unless you have some mod making them do it

Because that's how security alarms work.[www.safewise.com]

Unless you changed core settings in sandbox mode, zombies should never have a homing beacon on you.
If you trigger an alarm, they will go to where the alarm is, and if they see you, then they will change their course to try and get you. This means that you can murder a swift, silent path away from the alarm and hide and lure a huge amount of zombies to where the alarm is to go about your business.
This also works with sirens and car alarms, and should also work with alarm clocks, timed noise makers and even walkie talkies.

The house alarms are attributed to batteries, otherwise burglars would just cut the power before breaking in. And I haven't had an issue with zombies going to me rather than the house so like others have said there's some different kind of explanation like mods.

With 200hr+ of playtime I can very confidently say this did not happen the way you think it did and you're probably upset about it and not being honest as a result, there really is no other explanation lol, I've set off 100s of house alarms, the aggro is centered on the source of the alarm, or you ONLY if you've been seen or heard by the coming zombies (sprinting is very loud, running away from danger usually attracts the danger), either that or there was a helicopter event at the same time that you didn't notice that pulled the hoard in your direction and it looked like they were coming right to you

Even if you get seen, only the zombies that have seen/heard you will be attracted to you. Every other zombie in a 600 tile radius(Yes, it is positively enormous) is heading towards the alarming house. Most of them wont make it TO the house before the alarm shuts off and they lose interest, but they are migrating in that direction while it's on.

But yeah, The aggro radius of an alarming house is 100% centered on the house, Not on the player.

I enjoy the alarms and little things like that i always turn up vehicle alarms and a lot of the time they work in my favor when im clearing out places or needing to move zombies around.

If they came straight at you, they saw or heard you before the house alarm went off. Because Zombies will walk right by you if the first thing that caught their attention was the house alarm. Their AI is set to move towards their destination first, then recalculate where to go once they reach it, and the only thing that reliably disrupts this is bumping into or striking them. You can even shoot a gun off, and the only ones who will move towards you are the ones that already made it to the alarm house.

Thats true, because sense of smell is not an implemented feature.

Most alarm systems have internal batteries, unless someone really went for the cheapest Made In China model. Its a TV trope that somehow cutting a building's power will disable security.
