When you forage in the same area, do you randomly find objects and then sleep to reset the area's object spawns?

Or are you able to keep foraging (and lose sleep) and be able to forage different objects in the same area as often as you can?

This is assuming you only have 1 area to forage in the entire map.

When I forage in an area, after combing through all of the places in that area, I would stop and just go to sleep, so that the game will reload / refresh the foraging spawns of that area. And then I wake up, be it daylight or nighttime, I would continue to forage and repeat sleeping.

I always wondered if this is the best strategy for foraging in the same area. If not, does that mean you can keep foraging and don't need to go to sleep, and you will eventually forage as many items as you can?

I'm fairly confident the respawn of foragable items is tied to gametime and not the player sleeping. Easy to check by taking a look at gargabe piles (there are a bunch close together in the trailer park for example). Just Check before and after the sleep, then once more like a day later without sleeping.

I never knew foraging is affected much like loot respawns. If foraging is affected by gametime, would it be possible to affect the rarity of the foraged items in the area in the custom sandbox options?

Besides, I couldn't figure out which ones in the custom sandbox options would affect foraging, so I never bothered at all in changing them.

I forage a lot and I'm very certain new loot tables for forage is every day in game, At least by default or the server I play on it was, I built my own place and would forage out front of my wall every day to find fruits and medical plants I would generally find the same stuff every day around the same forage areas.

My anecdotal theory is actually that foraging respawn is tied to actual time passing rather than game time.

Because sometimes I would pause the game while foraging to go get IRL food or something, and when I came back, there would be an item in my foraging radius that wasn't there before.
