The two main ones (Superb and Superior Survivors) are based on the same code and have much the same features. Both allow you to make zones in your base and surrounding area and assign jobs to any NPCs you have such as farming or chopping wood. Superb Survivors has a bit more world building with certain enemy factions spawning in places like McCoys logging etc and also has some addons that allow you to use a ham radio to contact friendly NPCs. The two mods arent compatible so only enable one at a time.

Recommend give them a try - they do add some "life" to the world although the bots really arent very smart :)

I think there's a better version of superb survivor called "superb survivor continued" or something? I don't like using them, so I'm not sure.

A word of caution on both mods though, they will tank your FPS due if you get a large group of survivors. Playing with your wife / husband tends to work better and leave the other survivors to just wander around.

How much does an NPC mod affect FPS? Is a high-end PC recommended or a mid-range one should suffice, at least for low numbers? And how does the mod affect FPS and load times at various zombie population counts? Are very high populations or long play sessions even viable? My several years old laptop can handle 16x total zombie population at 1080p somewhat decently and playably (but it's not that close to stable, fully comfortable 60 FPS) with a decent number of mods installed, but I just don't know what to expect. Are NPC mods even compatible with other mods, for example map mods, item mods (Brita's weapons and armour, for instance), and vehicle mods?

Besides, I know it's completely off-topic but I must comment on the OP's nickname, makes me smile in a positive sense. :)

I've got somewhat bored with B41 at the moment and thus been asking the questions about the mods out of curiosity. I have spent 250-300 hours in it nicely (the rest is me being away from my laptop with the game running, hence almost 400 hours) and already unistalled it. I plan to return to PZ after B42 gets released. I imagine the mods may no longer be compatible with the new version of the game but I may give an NPC mod a try in the future. Anyway, thank you for your answer! :)

Edit: I've just checked the Survivor mods for B41 on Workshop. The sheer possibility of a glitchy/unintended behaviour of the NPCs is enough to discourage me from participating in a potentially interesting but unpredictable and wild ride.

1. Make sure they get guns when they spawn.

2. Spawn in louisville.

3. Run around gathering every survivor you see.

4. end up with 10 survivor that shoot everything in sight.

5. Proceed to aggro the whole city.

6. Dies in the next 2 minutes.

7. Repeat the process, but now make sure you have popcorn ready for the ending.

Best Horror/comedy movie i have seen in a while.
