What limbs / body parts have what % of being hit?
I've gone through a few dozen characters now and am noticing the overwhleming majority of my injuries from zombies occur either on fingers / hand or... groin. I sometimes get scratches or bites on my arms... only once on my torso out of over 100+ injuries, and never once a leg or foot injury from zombies (again, all zombie related attack, no environmental injuries included).

Am i doing something that causes all my injuries to be onyl hands and groin? I stand, (not crouched in stealth) and just swing away at zombies, not getting bitten while running, just when I get over-zealous and forget to check my surroundings and one will sneak up on me while im fighting another and thats usually when I get scratched or even bit. I often find body armor, but it seems to be entirely pointless since zombies have only once ever hit the upper or lower torso on my character, which is what armor protects.

Are limb hits from zombies random? Can I do something to.. i dunno.. direct hits to my actual body armor rather my character's crotch or hands all the time? (the zombies aren't even crawling.. they're all standing but they keep inflicting groin injuries).

I don't actually have any idea how it works, but it seems logical you'd be more likely to get injured where you don't have any armor. Maybe the zombies go for unarmored areas, or they hit everywhere but you don't notice it because they don't go through the armor. Also the arms would be more exposed in a fight, but I assume the crotch not so much.

So far as I can tell its generally a rag doll hit box process that initiates an RNG vs the % of protection on that location. Standing charging zombies tend to go for the face and neck a lot. Once in melee if they touch you it's a hit where ever you make contact, then the chance of a wound is processed.

This is entirely observational and a little bit of research from reddit. Which is hit or miss depending on how old the thread is. Games been documented a long long time in various stages of development.

yeah i cant argue against frequent hand injuries, seems only natural to defend with your hands and arms.. but the fact I've had dozens of crotch injuries and almost no torso injuries is extremely bizzarre. I dont even necessarily mean actual injuries, but damage to clothing. My shirts, jackets etc seldom take damage to the torso, but I am constantly taking damage / getting holes in my gloves and the crotch section of my pants that have denim or leather reinforced padding, which clearly suggests the zombies are hitting those parts of my body constantly and the lack of damage to my jacket / shirts torso section almost never needing repairs at all.

I have all this fancy body armor but it almost never protects me since zombies are hungry for groin and fingers only :/ .. oh and helmets seem useless, never once had my head hit out of dozens of dead characters.

I had also noticed that gloves take a lot more damage than other clothing, but I'd assumed it was was because they take a slight amount of damage from shoving attacks, similar to how my shoes keep wearing out while stomping zombies.

Can't explain the groin attacks though: on previous characters I've definitely noticed a disproportionate number of scratches/lacerations to the groin.

Yeah It's known that the zombies in this game have a bias towards biting/scratching your most essential body parts, so from the front it's likely your entire arm with bias towards your hands, which of course the game offers little protection for, and neck from when a zombie attacks your back, which of course also has one of the lowest protection values, and yes groin injuries are very common.

Those zeds are so thirsty but too rough and pushy. Where’s the HR department, so I can file a harassment complaint against them? 🥺

(Seriously though, I wonder if it would help if there was an athletic cup, lol)

I just tested in sandbox settings and can confirm: the groin has a 100% hit chance

Bump. I've also noticed this. Any explanations from the devs as to why we always get hit on the hands and groin?

Seems buggy, we'd need a dev to explain this to us.

It cause they have ♥♥♥♥ all for durability. They're gloves.

Which is ridiculous. A pair of leather gloves doesn't go to shreds after you vault 4 fences.

Depends on the gloves. Lamb skin leather is a lot softer than say cowhide. It would shred much easier.
But the game doesn’t take that into account so maybe we are just supposed to pretend it’s all poor quality leather or lamb♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Some nice full grain cowhide leather work gloves should last for ages. Would be nice to have the distinction.

Did anyone ever figure this out?
Searching stuff on this is pretty hard due to wording or bcuz there jst isnt much on it

I thought I saw smth about it on the pzwiki
N I was only able to find this from ppl's experience:
"hands>arms>body>head>groin>neck seems to be the attack likely hood for a standing zombie."

Oh and groin hit chance got an update, lower chance
